Sailing from Miami questions

We booked a cruise on the Magic from Miami. We haven't sailed from Miami and wanted to ask if there is anything we need to know that is not the same as Port Canaveral. Since we are going in a couple of months (booked today) the boarding time I received is 11:30am.

I want to try and get to the port earlier - is this feasible at this port? We are hoping to upgrade our room at the port. Can anyone tell me where the desk to ask is located at this port?

Any tips and hints about Key West?

Thank you for any information or insight

It's my understanding that the terminal doesn't open until 11:00 in Miami, unlike Port Canaveral.

On our last cruise out of Miami (3 years ago), the port opened a little after 11:00 and they started loading the ship around before noon.

Just got off the Magic yesterday. The port doesn't open until 11 and they are pretty tight with that. They started boarding a little before noon and boarding groups were called pretty quickly.

This was Miami when we sailed on the Wonder. Not as charming as Port Canaveral but easy enough to find your way around. All of the check in desks are in the right. We were let in a little after 11 and started boarding at noon.

The terminal in Miami isn't a great place to wait for boarding so I wouldn't want to have to spend a lot of time in there.

Are they being strict on port arrival times?

The real benefit to Miami was the extreme ease of travel from the airport to the ship.
We picked up our bags, walked right out the door, grabbed a waiting cab and was at the terminal 15 mins later. Obviously not remotely possible in PC. First time out of Miami, started boarding right before 11:00am. Second time there was something additional they were required to do and we did not start boarding until noon.

My guess is now it will be closer to noon as the port opens at 11am.
