Going to CBR in September and I am an avid sailor. I taught for 3 years, and raced a bit. Have mostly Laser, Sunfish, 420, and such experience, but crew experience on large (over 40') yachts as well. I last went to WDW in 96 and stayed at the Contemporary with my family. At the time, they had a Sunfish and a Hobie Catamaran (a 14', I think) and I was able to take the Hobie out - no questions asked, at age 15.
I called the CBR front desk, who transferred me to the marina. They have two Sunfish available for use on the lake at $20 an hour. But she said they only rent to 'experienced' sailors. This makes sense to me, as sailboats are expensive and not intuitively obvious to operate.
I would consider myself experienced, but cannot lay my hands on my instructor certification to 'prove' my qualification (seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle of my last move, and since I don't plan on teaching again, I haven't bothered to replace it.) Is it likely they'd even ask for it?
I'd really like to take advantage of this, and take my BF (
) - he's never been.
Does anyone have experience with this?
