We are sailing on the Fantasy in April. It's our 1st cruise with my DH and two DDs (6& 8). Where should watch the sail away party. It seems like all the trip reports I read show families watching from an upper deck. i would love to be close to the stage. How early do we have to be down there to snag a great spot?

The muster drill is right before the sail away party so head to deck 11 right after to get a spot by the stage. It will be crowded. We like to view from deck 12 to be looking down on the stage.

I like to watch it from deck 12, next to the stage. The stage is on the pool deck, deck 11, so I am looking down on the stage and have more of a side view of the show. Head up there as soon as the muster drill is over to secure a spot.

We love to watch it right up front next to the stage when our kids are with us, or from the deck above when it is just my husband and me. Like the PP said, go straight there after the drill and you should be able to get a great spot.

When our kids were 2 and 5 we watched from the upper deck right on the rail so they didn't get run over and got a good view from Daddy's shoulders. This time they will be 7 and 11 so will try to be down in all the action. I guess it depends on how interactive you want to be.

We would love to be close to the stage. How much time is between the drill and sail away party?

Biggest tip I can give is don't wait for an elevator after the drill if you want to be earlier for the sail away party. You're just going to have to hike.

Unless its during spring break you will probably still be able to get close. We were on last weekend and took our time getting up there and still was plenty of room on deck 11. Deck 12 was actually more crowded. (Of course this will always vary per cruise.)

Generally the pool is covered and that's a kids only place. So the kids can be in front in the kids section and you can stand close on the side. I've seen parents crowd into the kids section but it really is rude and often they will be told to move. But if you miss out being close, the whole thing is on the big screen.

On ours, we stood on the pool deck toward the back near the kids pool but there were plenty of adults towards the front. Could've been when we sailed though because there didn't seem to be quite as many kids on the one last weekend.

Go directly from Muster Drill, do not stop at your room. :) Best chance to snag a good spot.

Keep in mind that if its raining the party will be in the lobby area. My last THREE cruises the sail away party was inside. It get very crowded inside.

Thanks for the tips! We are on the 4/23/16 sailing of the fantasy...it's our Spring Break in NY. He do we know where we are for the Muster Drill? We are in stateroom 8574.
