I have said many times that I have no desire to sail on the Disney Wish. Well...

I did it. I just booked a concierge family veranda for December 11th for four nights. Just my wife and I. Also booked a couple of nights at the Yacht Club in WDW and will spend a few days in the parks. I've also said my park days are done. I'm hoping this is a nice get away before our big family vacation on the Fantasy in April 2024.

You will not regret sailing concierge on the Wish. I have no desire to sail the Wish again, mostly because of the short itineraries, but if I did it would 100% be in concierge again. The lounge and sundeck are unparalleled to any other DCL ship and perfect for an adults only trip. Have a fantastic time!

IMO, Impulse Cruises are the BEST :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 ENJOY!!!

DW and I were thinking about a WISH Concierge but after her sister sailed a 4 day and was disappointed we will stay with YC. A 7 day in Dec. for $2,000+ less with superior offerings means we forgo the Disney Experience.

I went against my better judgement and sailed on the Wish earlier this year. It was the only one that fit our schedule. We had a good time, didn't hate it. How bad can a cruise be, right? If you are sailing concierge, that makes it even better! We did not love the ship (disliked some things), especially in comparison to the other ships, but it was still a Disney Cruise. ;) I think you will enjoy yourselves.

We went in the fall because we wanted to see it. We absolutely enjoyed our cruise even though the Wish is not our first choice for future cruises. It is beautiful The rooms are nice and so comfortable. We liked how the lounges were spread out around the ship rather than all in one out of the way location--it seemed they were livelier that way. We enjoyed the main pool area, and loved sitting in the shallow water to watch funnel vision. The food on the pool deck is much better than on the other ships. We enjoyed the MDRs as a one-time thing (we don't want all that show and loudness all the time).

What we didn't like: Adult pool area. It's unusable for anyone with any kind of mobility issue (no way my mother was going to be able to get in there) and there aren't good loungers with shade around the pool which is where we like to spend a day. Tables in MDR are insanely crowded. The layout is so different--we were lost a lot of the time. None of these were enough to "ruin" the trip, just enough to make this ship not our favorite. And overall, we really enjoyed seeing something new.

I am certain you will enjoy your trip!

We just got off the Wish Friday (not concierge though). i had pretty low expectations based on these boards, but we loved it. We have only been on the Dream a few times and have the Fantasy booked next year, but DH liked the Wish better than the Dream. Would absolutely sail on her again.

The ship is gorgeous. DH and I preferred that the bars were spaced around instead of sitting in one dark corner of the ship. The bars were beautiful, yes they were small but never had problems finding a seat (including 2 trivia sessions arriving 15 minutes before). Pool deck food was much much better—really liked Donald’s Cantina. The MDRs were different but we liked the change of pace. Palos for dinner was outstanding and loved the steakhouse aspect. Rose bar was great for pre dinner drink. We liked the changes to the pirate show, but that’s our era of music. The adult pool is small but like the infinity pool aspect. When we went at 6 pm one day there just for a drink there were 4 people total there. We had no problems finding our way around.

Our vacation reinforced that you can’t judge on others opinions and you just have to try it yourself. I almost didn’t book the cruise because of what others wrote, and we ended up having a wonderful time.

The concierge lounge and sundeck are amazing. And I could not get enough of the Dole Whip smoothies. We really enjoyed it but I don't think that we will sail "non-concierge" again. It really ruins you (in a good way).

This response is an oops. LOL
Which Fantasy sailing are you on?
We will be on the Fantasy April 13 - April 20, 2024.

I hear you. Other than Castaway Cay, I'm not real excited about Nassau (will stay on the ship) and the short number of nights. But it works for a quick getaway and a few days in WDW as well. And yes, I am looking forward to concierge and the sundeck area.

Concierge can do that to you. We did concierge on the Dream this past December and are hooked on concierge. We have this cruise and one in April on the Fantasy in concierge.

My husband said, "Never again, this is amazing." We are going concierge for 5 nights on the Dream next January. I would love to go on longer cruises, but my husband wasn't initially a fan. He is now, thanks to concierge.

We'll be on the Magic in a few weeks. DW is Pearl and I am close, but we have never sailed concierge. In fact, I'd say the majority of our sailings have been inside staterooms.

I am sure concierge is lovely, but the costs/benefits just don't add up for us. But everyone values different things. I say if you love concierge, and can afford it, by all means, do it!

I am usually an "upgrade" kind of person. But I find it very hard to justify the cost of concierge. I'd be more inclined to book two connecting rooms if I wanted more space for our family. I love club lounges, etc. but to me, I don't see the value.

However, if I did it once, maybe I would feel otherwise and only want concierge... Maybe best to not get started!

We’re the type of cruisers that spend very little time in the stateroom. That wouldn’t change even if we did Concierge. We can’t justify it in our case. We always have a verandah and don’t use that.

We did the same-last minute cruise on the Wish for just the two of us, this October, in concierge. Not sure the Wish is my "style" of ship, as I love the Wonder and Magic, but I want to give it a try. We don't always sail concierge, but it is a wonderful way to treat ourselves after what has been a difficult year for me. I am sure I won't hate it-it is a Disney cruise afterall, but it may be a one and done due to the Itinerary-although a quick short Disney Cruise fix is never a bad idea. Looking forward to trying some of the food- although we did book Palo for night we are in the Marvel themed restaurant, just because that doesn't appeal to me. We will book end this quick getaway with some birdwatching/photography at Merritt Island. Should be fun, and very much looking forward to exploring the Wish.

Neither of us are 'boat' people so it took a long time for us to cruise. Really only because our first cruise was a DVC incentive. So FOMO, we cruised Wonder. We cruised both the Wonder and Magic and, while the crew was fantastic, both ships seemed small to us landlubbers. We cruised 3 times on the Dream and it was a Dream. Then we cruised twice on Wish and loved how new the ship was, smooth sailing, the different lounges everywhere and the cruise length. Now we're booked on a 6N Fantasy and I've got my Dramamine packed because it sounds like, while everyone loves the ship, it's a bit rickety, plus this is our longest cruise. I always said I'd never cruise longer than 5 days. LOL

I love the Fantasy and Concierge! Been doing it since 2013 except for a 2019 Med cruise (Concierge on the Magic) and Covid (we had scheduled an Alaskan cruise that was canceled and now we don't really want to go to Alaska). Anyway, I digress. Fantasy is a great ship and Concierge is so nice on the ship. Can't compare it to Wish because I haven't been on the Wish (itins too short for me), but I think you'll greatly enjoy your Apr 2024 trip. (We are scheduled for October of this year on the Fantasy - can't wait!)

That sounds like one amazing vacation. Don’t believe all the bad press about the Wish. We had our best vacation ever on that ship. Go into it with an open mind and enjoy. Start off by doing one of the guided ship tours so you can get familiar with it.

I wouldn't call the Fantasy "rickety," lol. It's about the same age as the Dream. The issue with the Fantasy is that it has a known aft vibration, especially when the ship is moving at higher speeds. But that shouldn't affect your seasickness as it's vibration, not rocking, and it's only aft. Of course the ship will rock, but not any differently than any other ship, and not due to its age. The rocking will come from the condition of the waters you're sailing through, wind speed, and how fast you're sailing.

If I had to sail on the Wish again, it'd be concierge as I do feel like I felt the difference on the Wish whereas I have not on the other ships. Hope you enjoy her! :)

Thanks! Here's hoping we're mid-ships. We booked Cat. 4E GTY so we currently unassigned. 🤞
