SAHM Mom needs ideas to make money.....

Ah, I see.

Yeah, if the kids were in school I would just go back to work outside the home, but I actually miss working.

Dawn

Thanks Dawn....however I wasn't looking to cut costs just trying to keep busy while kids are in school. Now that you mention it though, we have cancelled all of our pay channels and my cleaning lady :sad2:

I have also been checking this out. So you paid per views of your articles? Is the trick to write about subjects that will be searched often? About how much to you make per month with them? How much time do you put into it?

Also, does your pen name show up as the writer of the article? I am a pretty private person ,and although I would be proud of an article I wrote, I wouldn't want it all popping up for anyone who googled my name.

I write for them a little. Mine is showing up my real name but I probably wrote it in that way. I only have about 20 articles with them and I get about $2 a month. BUT I also got $3 - $10 for each of those articles upfront when I published them. Some other sites pay more per month but they don't pay anything up front (my eHow articles earn about $80 a month now without me doing anything which is kind of fun--but eHow no longer allows submissions through anyone but Demand Studios so you have to apply with them). I really need to start writing a few more for that site. They like local stuff so reviews of local restaurants and businesses are great.

There's also Examiner.com that likes writers who write about local events and news.

Here's teh Corporate Research International site:

My sister said that at first you only get offered lousy jobs (like spend $1 at the grocery store and spend an hour checking stuff and get reimbursed your $1 plus $4 for your time) but now she gets cool things like "Go spend $40 on a dinner at _______________." And she gets reimbursed plus gets like $15 or $20 for doing it. Can't beat that. I signed up and got accepted but just found I don't have time so I don't have first hand knowledge of how it works. My mom does it a little too. It seems like they are everywhere--I live in Indiana, my sister is in Ohio and my mom is in Rhode Island and we've all been offered work through them.

I have heard of that....how do I find out about it in my area:thumbsup2? Im in!!!!!

I work full-time but supplement my income with mystery shopping. Some of it is straight shop fees and some of it is reimbursements. I've been doing it for a little over 2 years and I make around $125/month. It's not a lot but I only do 2-3 shops a week during my lunch hour.

Here's a copy/paste (too lazy to retype it! :lmao: ) I put in another thread for someone looking for a way to make extra money:

Two very reputable companies are Marketforce and Bestmark. The vast majority of shops I do are for Marketforce and their affiliate, Certified Field Associates. It's the kind of thing that's perfect for a college student as you look and see what they've got in your area and you pick and choose the assignments that appeal to you and fit into your schedule.

Lots of fast food shops where they'll give you $7.50 plus reimbursement for food (not so good on the waistline so I have to make sure I only "taste" the food without scarfing down the whole thing!), grocery shops where you'll get $10 reimbursement for items purchased, restocking stores with things like trading cards or calling cards that pay around $8 for a half hour of work. Little bits here and there where you actually have to go and do something, submit an online report and scan in any required receipts, and pay attention to detail. They pay either every 2 or 4 weeks for work completed previously.

Costs nothing to sign up with either of the companies I mentioned but you will need to provide your SS# as they are real companies and you're treated as an Independent Contractor. If you make over $600 in shop fees (not reimbursements, they don't count as income), you'll get a 1099 for your taxes.

Even if you don't have a specific reason to save money, it's worth looking into for a little extra spending cash.

i did Cha Cha for a while and it was way too hard/too much work for too little money. I make much more doing Swagbucks, Inboxdollars, iRazoo, Lets Break Records, etc. Not exactly enough money to consider it a "job" but more like "fun money" (going towards my WDW trip) that I earn while I'm on the computer *anyways* (on all day for work anyways). I probably make about $100/mo.

I haven't done ChaCha in a while but my DH is losing his job so I thought I would try to start again. I have not done it in a year but thankfully my account is still active...but I can't seem to have found the most recent training guide...and the forum search isn't helping.

For those that have been around that long - has the criteria for answering changed drastically?

Are you an Expeditor or a Specialist? Things have changed a ton for Exp in the last year. I suggest you check the forums. They are the best source of information. If you post that you haven't been on in a while, someone will post the links to the info in the knowledgebase that you need to read. I can never find anything in there either. There are some people who know where everything is. I am impressed. LOL

I PASSED!!!!!!! So I started taking questions and man are some of these challenging. I'm having such a hard time finding answers. Can anyone offer any tips???? Am I allowed to post the question I was asked on here??? It was a doozy! :scared1:

I would love to try the mystery shopping thing....I just get really nervous about giving out my social secruity number. Anyone had a problem with any of these sites and fraud?

I passed too. Wowzers - It is hard work (if you are trying to do a good job of it) for peanuts! I dunno, but I sat and searched and answered questions for hours and only made $6. Unless there is some trick to this, I don't think it's worth my time.

Couple of ?'s - What do you do when you are asked a question that is just obcene? Is that what the "abuse" key is for? What if you are asked a question that you just can't find an answer for - is that what the "clarify" button is for? Does hitting "clarify" cost you money?

I feel the same way as you. Was so excited to try it but got some really off the wall questions that I had a really hard time answering. Too stressful for little money. I wish I knew an easier way to make money.

talulabelle and lukenick1: it will get easier as time goes on. You will also go faster. Since you are both specialist, I cannot help too much. I am an Exp. But I suggest you guys read the forums. There is a ton of information and they will tell you all of their tips and tricks to help make you faster.

I haven't read through all the posts - so maybe you mentioned this - but did you do any work outside the home before you had children? I worked in publishing so I was able to transition that into freelance editing after I had my kids.

2 yrs ago my youngest went full-day at school and I got a part-time job at a local college. It has made a HUGE difference for me - I just love it and the hours are exactly when my kids are in schools. I drop them off and pick them up and go to work in between. It's only 20 hrs/week - so it allows me to do the editing as well.

Good luck to you!

Hi there......my husband and I own a restaurant and I DO NOT want to work there. Guess I want my cake and to eat it too. I would love to do the college thing. What exactly do you do there???

I work from home, I contract with a company called Arise. My client is a major them park. ;) I can't say the actual name because of contractual agreements, but saying that is okay. Arise contracts with a lot of different companies. It's not get rich quick (sadly) but it is steady work with a flexible schedule that I don't have to leave my house for. :goodvibes
