OK- DH is gone on a 3 week excercise, and this is the first time he's gone out since we've had kiddos. We just transferred to this area, so I don't really know anyone yet, and I'm going out of my mind!!!!! I'm definately using the nights and weekends of our cell calling back East! How in the world am I going to make it another 2 weeks? :scared1:

I don't know your kids ages, but get out if it is at all possible. Check out the library, the park, even just go to the store to browse (if the kids will let you). It will be a way to connect with other people. Check with the local churches to see if they have a playgroup (ours does, but it is not run by the members, so you won't feel awkward if you decide not to attend worship), that is a good way to meet other parents. It is so important not to just wait around at home, that just makes it feel so much longer.
Another thought, those deployments are when I get some of my best cleaning done... I clean at night when the kids are sleeping, and get some of the junk laying around thrown out.
Good luck and I hope it goes fast for you.

I can definately understand how you feel. I have been a military wife for about 12 years and I have had my fair share of deployments. It is tough!

I have moved 5 times since we married and have often found myself alone when the kids go to bed at night. :guilty: :cold:

So during the days I take the children to the pool on base or the libarary here. You might want to see if they have a library with a reading program with the little ones. I would have also found out if your husbands command has an ombusman. (A wife of military member in your husbands command and see if the girls have a get together)

On a personal level when my husband is gone I rent chick flicks that he would never watch. I paint my nails and do things that I never get a chance to do when the kids are awake or hubby it home. It is me time and I really have come to enjoy that time. I still love and miss him but I dont put my life on hold because he is gone. :love2:

Best of luck to you! :grouphug:
