DH was trying to slip the 'do not disturb sign' onto the door so he opened it and put it on and then slipped his hand back inside.. only the doors (little mermaid room) close slowly and then for the last few inches it SLAMS and it slammed on his finger. Over a month later and he still has a black fingernail. DD2 said Daddy boo boo, and he said yes that is from Disney. I forgot all about it but wanted to share. He is a mechanic so his fingers are used to things like that but if that happened to a child they'd lose their finger! I'm surprised something so hazardous is there like that!

When our boys were little we put a towel over the top of the bathroom door to not only prevent smashed fingers but to keep them from locking the door. Oldest DS locked the bathroom door once at a non-WDW hotel and locked all our stuff inside as we were packing to leave and the hotel did not have a key to get into the bath:rolleyes:. We HAD to leave on time and so the things in the bath got left behind.

wow that is a good tip sorry to hear you lost all of what was in the bathroom. you'd think the hotel would have to have a key to their locks! DD2 was obsessed with the bathroom door b/c it had a full mirror she loved seeing herself like that.

I use a fine point sharpie to write my name and phone number on the underside of the bicep of my boys. We've taught them from toddler hood how to identify the docent or worker at places and if "mom and dad" get lost they have a way to let an adult get in contact us. A quick spritz with hairspray will make it water resistant for a few weeks as well.

AAA has a bandaid tattoo for emergency contact. I had them for dgs but he asked what it was for....after learning he was upset and hesitant t wear it like a foreboding.

Trip insurance! One pediatric dental visit kills a budget if you do not have any. There are several to choose from.

Moleskin tape to prevent blisters.

Just curious, do you recall if you had a window or the balcony door open? I am not familiar with the rooms, but what you described happens around my house when I have windows and backdoors open. It will cause the front door to slam shut.

In the hotel room - always snap over the extra locks. Our two year old is able to open at least some hotel doors but the top lock keeps him from being able to escape.

I'm also using perm marker to put his name/my name and my cell number on the OUTSIDE of his magic band.
