Hi,

Could someone explain how the safes work in the rooms. Also, how big are they? I have been on RCCL ships both the Voyager and Radiance, so if someone could compare them in size to that, that would be helpful.

Thanks,

The safe is in the closet. You use something with a magnetic strip to lock it. When you come in it's open. You put something in, close it, swipe the magnetic strip and the light changes from green to red and it's locked. When you want to open it, you swipe the SAME magnetic strip and it goes red to green and opens.

Note that it's the magnetic strip that's the "key", not the keycode on the door. So say you use your KTTW card to lock it, your DHs KTTW card WON'T unlock it. Some people use their ATM card just so they don't forget which KTTW card was used!

In size, it's about 10 inches wide, 4-5 inches high, and maybe 6 inches deep on the inside.

yes, last time i used my master card to lock and unlock the safe...

Thanks for the quick info! On past cruises my husband and I used the safe alot for cash etc, both of us using it when needed.

So that two people can use it when they need it, do you hide the magnetic strip card in the room, so you can open it when your husband is somewhere else, or vice versa?

I am usually the keeper of the credit card, so if my husband needs to get in there when i am not in the room, he would have to get the credit card i used to lock the safe. Just as an fyi, he never needed in the safe.

Or you could use your KTTW, but regardless, the card used to lock must be the one to unlock...
