Hi!

We are are large group of friends who would like to make their own type of Give Kids The World Trip for a 9 yo boy who has already done GKTW but wants to go to Disney one last time as he is just received some really bad news.... btw, he has neuroblastoma.

So - A group of friends/community, etc.. would like to see him and his family go for one last time - This is where I come in since I offered to coordinate this endeavor as I'm obviously Disney obsessed and need you guys to help come up with a 'GAME PLAN": - info -

I'm a DVC Member - so room will be covered - However, don't know of how many days yet.
1 person has Disney connections so we have company passes for 8 (family of 4 - they are park hoppers we figure 2 days covered) - maybe able to get a VIP guide to to speed things up at the park - is that possible - worth it? Many people want to donate money gift cards - so I also figured on getting Meal plans, and rental car/van (they have friends to see, want to go to other parks, go to pharmacy/& park transportation) and gift card for daily expenses during trip.

We would have liked to set up an Disney account, however you need a password to let people know this is a legit trip and that someone might run off with the 'money'., another person said "Go Fund Me' takes a percentage - so people turned down that - is there another way to save that is safe and secure or a site anyone knows of to donate?

Also, what else are we missing? - are there others out there who have done/been in similar situations and could suggest things to make this trip better?

Thanks in Advance!! :)

This is so kind of you guys. If you're coordinating and people trust that you're not going to run off with the money ;) why not just have people send it to you through PayPal or Amazon payments? PayPal is free from bank accounts so is Amazon. I think Amazon even allow P2P payments free up to $1000 on cc for certain things.

It's pretty easy then you can just transfer it all for the family or purchase all the additional items.

I cant comment on the funding stuff. I know my friends dd who had leukemia had the make a wish trip too but when people donated money etc. to them it had to be in a special type of account for tax purposes, sorry I dont know the details.

Just wanted to say about the trip. I think you said they will only be at Disney for 2 days, so I dont know if buying the memory maker would be worth it, but you could also do the private photographer thing too. I dont know if they do that at just a resort??

I was talking to one make a wish mom on trip once and the thing she was happy about the most was the pictures with her family.

As a cancer survivor myself, I think what you are doing is very sweet.

That is such an awesome thing to do! I've done money transfers without fees two ways:

1) Paypal, as long as the transfer comes via bank account or Paypal funds. Credit card transfers do have a fee.

2) an app called Venmo. I think it may have a cap that is free, and then there may be a fee, but at least an initial decently large amount is free. And credit card transfers can be done free too.

You may be able to set up an account through a local bank. Depending on who you are planning to reach...some people will want to know if the donation is tax deductible. Depending on how big you want to make this...you could see about aligning this fundraising goal with a local non-profit in the area (that way it would be tax deductible and they may also contribute). Check out site guidestart dot org for local non profits.
