Safe to walk from Homewood

I will be staying at Homewood Suites in October. The map says it is about a mile from DL. I don't mind a 1 mile walk but how is the area? Would it be safe to walk, especially for 2 females?

We just got back from DL last week. We were two blocks before homewood....we felt perfectly safe.

It is closer to 1.65 miles. It is 1 mile to the corner of Harbor and Katella (where DIsney property starts) but it is another .65 to the entrance to the property (and another .1 or so to the gates.)

You do realize that if you go to Disneyland you'll walk like 7-10 miles that day right?

The ART bus looks pretty good at the end of the day.

I'm sure it's safe. But I have a hard time thinking anyone would want to walk that far...especially at the end of the day. We stayed at the Anaheim Plaza and even that seemed far after a day in the parks. Especially if it's warm out.

I google mapped it to the Desert Inn which is right by the gates and it says it's a 29 minute walk.

Why walk when you can take the shuttle? We did when we stayed there last summer. Getawaytoday.com's package has the shuttle for free.

We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn about 1/4 block closer to the parks than Homewood, and walked every day but one exhausted evening when we took a cab.

Once you pass Orangewood it *feels* a little different than it feels closer to the parks, but you have to remember you're still in a tourist area. Tourists driving by, tourists eating at Buca di Beppo and Red Robin, etc etc.

Wow, I can't believe Homewood Suites has "Main Gate" in their title. It's pretty far from the gates.

I would take the shuttle. Save your legs for the parks.
