Safe to run solo in downtown Montreal?

I'll be in Montreal for a weekend & I'm wondering if it's safe to run solo (as a female) around downtown Montreal early in the AM (after sunrise)? I will be near the convention center. Trying to keep up on my Dumbo Double Dare training & I hate the treadmill.

The running room in Vancouver, for example, has its own mailing list and I get emails about their events etc. they have fun runs and regular training runs. Great idea to check with them. They might have group runs and they'll definitely have good routes.
