Safari Photos every year?

I just read a thread about possible having too many character meals and going to the same character meals year after year. For me, it doesnt get old and as my children grow the photos represent them growing!

The one thing that popped into my head while reading the thread is my hubbys need to take photos of the animals every time we go on the safari ride at Animal Kingdom. Obviously, you cant tell which giraffe photo was taken on which trip. How many flamingo pictures can one own? Is there a need to even bring our camera anymore to this park?

How many repeat Disney-goers out there continue to take the same pictures of the same animals every trip? :)

Always bring the camera--just don't always take the pictures. We were on safari and they had a newborn elephant out -definitely had to get a picture so cute! And I have pics of a very large and in charge Silverback Gorilla --he was wearing his food dish as a hat. So no pics unless it is something unusual like that.

You just never know when you are going to see something special or out of the ordinary. Like the baby elephant playing by the water, or the giraffe that came right up to our truck. Or the time the cheetahs were pacing right up by the fence line because another Critter ( I can't remember if it was a zebra or something else) was standing just out of reach, taunting them. So my camera will always be out and ready.

I have pictures of the baby giraffes, the baby Okapi, elephants, the two baby gorillas that were born last year. I love taking photos on the safari, my dad probably close to 10,000 photos over the past 5 years and he always takes his super duper camera to snap them. It's funny sometimes he gets a good one and then I will whip out my phone and show him a better one. We always have a contest of which ones we can get better of phone vs the digital camera.

This post makes me laugh! I travel mostly with my husband and children to WDW but a couple of times we've done a girls trip with my best friend and our daughters who are also best friends. I love animals and I love pictures! I used to take pictures every time I was on the safari until my bff totally made fun of me. The running joke now is "where you putting that? On your mantle"? She makes me laugh. Obviously I have thousands of the kids etc. but unless something spectacular is happening with the animals I've backed off. I still love them though!

I will bring the camera, just in case there is a good opportunity for a special shot, but I'm not going to be taking anymore photos unless it's something out of the ordinary. I may take a quick video to splice in for a video project I was thinking of, but it will only be like 30 seconds. I don't want to watch it through a screen. :)

Food dish as a hat? :rotfl2:

That's almost as good as a dancing elephant!

After taking the same photos year after year, i now hold the camera (just in case) but i enjoy the safari "live." Never know if I'll see a renegade poacher.

I have photographed the rear end of every animal on the safari multiple times every year since it opened.

Yep. I've had my share of "butt days" too.

That said, given that it's all about digital photography now, I have no issues taking pictures every time. If I was having to pay to develop them, I might have pause, but it costs me nothing to upload them to my tablet. :)

I would never miss taking my camera on the safari. Leaving it behind would be sure fire recipe for missing the best shot ever.

If, however, you were to ask why I take picture of the animals on the Jungle Cruise every trip, I would not have a good answer. But I'm still going to do it.

I took my camera in June, DH took it from me. He said, no more animal pictures! He's so mean. :guilty: he just doesn't understand my need to have safari pics every year we go.

We have been 7 times in the past five years, and I stopped taking safari pictures after the third trip. I always have my phone with me in case something unexpected happens. I just don't usually take photos of the animals anymore.

I'm doing the Wild Africa Trek this time, so I shouldn't have to take pictures. My pictures of the safari turned out awful last time anyway, so hopefully I'll get some good ones this time.

I still take my camera with me on the safari - you never know what animals you'll get the best pics of. One year, we had half a dozen giraffes right up by the road. This year, we had a couple of white rhinos waiting patiently to cross the road behind our truck. I should give it up, because my photos are never that great, but you just never know.

I don't do character meals every trip (have done only one on my solo trips), but I love to do m&gs and have met some characters more than once. I always say Hi to Mickey somewhere along the way, and I always have to go visit my boys Phineas & Ferb - I am going to be so sad if/when they go away!

I realized after this year that I have met Snow White three times - first time was "True Love" week in 2013 when she was meeting with her Prince (they looked perfect and were great). Second time was 2014, my first chance to check out Fairy Tale Hall and I opted for the Rapunzel line; Snow was her visiting princess. Third time was this year when I'm so glad I got to do Characterpalooza for my first and probably only time (now that they've messed it up).

I always think the same thing and then I get a decent animal shot and so I keep taking pics. I sometimes get a good pic of kiddo in the vehicle pointing at the animal in the distance and that makes me laugh too. Plus last time I got the hippo with whole head out of the water! Gee when that becomes the big animal picture maybe I should rethink this LOL!

I do!

One justification is that, if I don't, then go back and say, "let's look at our photos from 2012", there might not be any Safari photos in there, if I didn't take pictures that year. Plus, you never know if you'll get a better shot than you did the previous years.

Recently, I always bring my good camera with me on the safari. Several years ago, I made the decision to go to the zoo without my good camera. Wouldn't you know that was the one time in all these years that the turtles were posing nicely on the alligator's head in the pond. Missed the shot. I also love to take bird pictures. On the other hand, my son has refused Disney character pictures since he was about 10.
