We are traveling to WDW the first full week in December and have a 9:35 a.m. ADR at Tusker House. Looks like AK opens at 9:00 a.m. that morning. Do you think it's possible to do the Safari before breakfast? We're traveling from the Poly -- anyone know how many stops the bus makes on that route to AK? Trying to figure out how early we'll need to leave. Many thanks in advance for your advice!

Be at your resort bus stop by 8AM.
Arrive at DAK by 8:30AM.
After they drop the rope, you need to walk deliberately to Safari.

It is likely that you will be a bit late for your ADR, but not by very much, and not enough to worry about.

If you are at the gate when the park opens you should be fine. I agree to be at the gate of AK at about 8:30, but if you are and go straight there (meaning don't stop to take pictures at the tree of life!) then you should be able to get on and off safari in time to make your reservations, maybe even be at Tusker a little early.

I mostly agree, EXCEPT that there will likely be many guests who have 9AM Safari FP+ booked and those guests can slow down the OP's boarding time.

And, you just never know if any animals may wander onto the driving paths and slow down (or stop) a bunch of the vehicles during the ride.

My answer covered those possibilities.

adding on to the op... What do you think is the latest FP+ window that you can return with to make a 9:45am TH breakfast ADR? we are going during an extra magic hours morning and I plan to take the kiddo to ride the three rides in dinoland til he's had enough or it's about 8:45 and then head on over to the safari before our breakfast. I was going to FP+ it and am hoping to get one right at 9:00 or 9:05 (it will be the third one I make after 7DMT and FEA) but in case I can't (i do have the 60 day window) do you think a 9:15 or even 9:20 return time would work (assuming they'd let me in at 9:15 for it).

9:00-9:20AM would be about right.

You can certainly be a bit late to an ADR without a major problem, should your Safari be delayed.

thanks, that is sort of what I was thinking. It is a long haul from dinoland to africa but I am guessing that most people are not hitting the rides there for EMH - probably safari and everest, so it is a good time for a kid who loves those 3 rides to do them more than once. I kind of want to maximize the time but also do safari and then breakfast.
