Safari at AK standby strategy? evening?

I have a FP for the safari, but I am not happy with the time (1:15 - August heat and humidity). I am planning to do FOP at ropedrop and then Navi. Does anyone know how the standby line is in the evening towards sunset? I am trying to move my FP to early in the day (10:00 or so) but have been unsuccessful and I am looking for a backup plan! Thanks for any help!

To be honest, I don't think we have waited more than 15-30 minutes for the Safari on any of our past 10 trips. We usually visit mid August, so not sure of the time differences, but it doesn't really seem to have much of a wait no matter what time of day.

We just came back from a trip last Friday and were able to do the safari on two evenings after 7pm with almost no wait time if that' means anything.

A fairly good amount. Probably our favorite time to try to ride if we can. Also actually saw a male and female lion out on the rocks and even got a roar!

We walk on at dusk almost every single trip (Last July, President Weekend this year and this past June). It’s definitely doable without FP.

You can probably add as a same day fast pass. Just continue to refresh MDE until a time pops up!

Its AMAZING in the evening! We saw TONS of animals at dusk in Sept 2016
