Sadly Disappointed with Canada Pavillion at Epcot

But I can think of a few other Atlantic Canadian bands that would be great there - Shanneyganock, Signal Hill, Pub Soda and Celtic Connection being some of my favourite lesser-known Celtic rock bands.

I love Signal Hill, but they won't even leave the Maritimes to play anywhere else; they're not going to Epcot! (Wow, would that be a blast to see them there!)

i was sorely dissappointed too. i was going to request logdrivers waltz but they left the stage before i could. wonder if they would know it? lol Dh and i came out of the movie saying eh every other word and a cm walked by and i said to him gee i wear flannel all the time and she turned around and said oh yeah me too and how about the hat and boots, aren't those so typical to be seen in Canada roflmao. I had never even heard of beavertails till i came on to these boards. My hubby was really quite upset but i told him that the other countries were probably badly misrepresented too so not to worry about it. pretty sure not everyone in china, norway, mexico and morroco wear those lovely little outfits they had on either lol.

definately needs some updating.

I'm a Canada Pavillon Alum and lots of Canadian's complain about it but it's a representation of Canada. Obviously there's no way with a country as diverse as this every area could be represented. Also the original idea was to be a more frontier time of Canada, trapping, logging etc.

As for Off Kilter they've been playing in the pavillon since 1997. They are Americans because of VISA/contract issues as are the entertainers who are "The British Invasion", "El Mariachi Cobre" etc, etc. Sometimes countries might have short term entertainment from their home country but for the most part they are Americans or Permanent Residents of the US.

Also in regards to the movie, China just got a new movie however France still has their original 1982 film showing and the pavillon has no kind of gov't sponsorship or anything like that so it's all Disney money. And they are going to put their money into big ticket attractions at this point.

I would say if it really bothers you than don't stop there. But the CM's are the friendliest in all of Epcot and eager to tell any visitor about their home province. :D

Impressions de France has weathered the decades much better than the Canadian film. Perhaps it was a better film to begin with. Although I wish they would straighten it a bit so the panels line up. The Canadian movie just seems faded and dull. I wonder how often they even get a new print!

As for the friendliness of employees, I found them to be universally friendly across the board. Any that I've stopped to talk to (and that's a lot) are always excited to chat - especially when they know you've visited their home country.

Interesting info about the artists and Visa issues.

For you Stan Rogers' fans who need a shot of Stan, head on over to Typhoon Lagoon and sit down at "Lowtide Lous." ( I think thats the name, its the lunch place next to Shark Reef). All the background music is Stan Rogers! At least it was a couple of years ago.
