How about amtrack? Are trains still running?

I was scheduled to leave on Amtrak today to go to SC then to Orlando on Sunday. NO GO! My father has been stranded since last Friday and can't get out until Tuesday. I wouldn't have been able to rebook for the weekend. All trains were cancelled to the south. The farthest they were going were DC and then only a limited amount of trains. There were down lines and trees in VA and the Carolinas.

If I had gotten to SC then I would have to go to Savannah, GA to catch my train to Fla. It was a nightmare. So I had to cancel entire trip today and hopefully I can get a room (60 day mark) from April 25 (my Bday) to May 1st. Wish me luck.

Thanks. I had to make light of this. I was so upset because I thought my son would be but it turns out he is okay. So we are planning little day outings. He is happy we are going in April. Since he is doing well in school, I will take him out for the week. His teacher will provide work for him.

Your only consolation would be if you were a DVC member, as you would be able to visit WDW many more times in the future.

I am very sorry that this happened to you. I hope that your future visits will be filled with great joy.

You have my sympathies. My DH and I were in WDW last week and had to leave early - what a bummer! We arrived 5:00 pm on Wed, 2/3 and because our Saturday evening flight back to Dulles, VA was cancelled on Thursday, we had to catch the ME at 7:30 am on Friday, 2/5 in order to get the last Southwest flight available. We missed our couples massage, meeting with our DVC rep about possibly adding on points, and dinner reservations. Hearing your story makes me feel lucky to have had that one sunshine filled day before having to return to the snowdrifts of MD!

We were staying at BLT and got a cancellation notice from our airline so we added another day!! It was nice and we had family and friends that nicely shoveled so we didnt have to worry about that, well at least for the first storm of the week!

we are rescheduled. Now going to AKl 2/25-3/2. It's a day shorter and our airfare was more but who cares we'll be at Disney. We were even able to get some decent ressies.
