Fair question. Perhaps it's me that doesn't get the community board. But I felt it a place of information sharing and support, as versus the debate board, which is for disagreeing in a set format. And I've taken my concerns to a couple of moderators who told me this is a good place to hang if your at the place in life that I am.
I began finding the debate board distasteful some time ago and found this place refreshing. I enjoy a good debate and find it a useful and mind-expanding tool. However, due to life events, that's not where I am right now. And quite frankly, there are about six or seven people over there that do most of the talking and only two or three that say anything (take a compliment where you can get it, you're one of those two or three).
I also find many a comment bashing and ridiculing the CB and it's "Pixie dust and gag, Hugs." So I quit amusing myself by reading DB posts. I hang out here in my spare time, where folks talk to each other, help each other, and cheer each other up.
Question, and I mean this sincerely: Is there a rule on the DB that being nice and non-confrontational and using terms like prayers, pixie dust, and hugs are not allowed? If so, I must have missed it. I thought I was taking my mood to the board it suited, and leaving behind what I see as contentious and confrontational, often personal exchanges, no matter how intelligent and quick-witted they may be.
Maybe I don't get it, and if so I digress. But your exchange with Silky looks like debate board material. There's no rule that people on the trip planning board have to agree on everything. But I bet the exchange you two just had would be quickly moved from there. And I'm a little sensitive about the subject because I've read some bashing on the DB of what I see as exchanges of kindness over here. I perceive this exchange to be debate board material. Likewise, I'd expect to get a monumental load dumped on me if I went to the debate board in search of support for mine and my wife's situation.
I'm not a moderator. That's my opinion alone. Anyone else?
