BTW -- I don't know too much about the "Big Red Boat" -- but does anyone know if this is the one that could have been docked in Freeport? I saw it and got pictures of it. I'll post them too.

For some reason, I think I remember reading that the Big Red Boat is docked (out-of-service) in Freeport. I think there may even be 3 of them. Can't wait to see pictures!

I'm glad you're having such a good time. What's the weather like in the Bahamas? Its actually oddly windy and chilly here in Orlando at the moment.

It has been really nice here. High 70s, low 80s. A bit overcast but sunny for the most part. We got a little rain here around 2pm (i'm guessing...read my report for why i'm guessing). but it didn't last long.

;)

I know exactly what you mean...skipping CC was probably the hardest thing that we've ever done! The only thing that made it somewhat tolerable was the chance to use the crew pool, which had been opened to adults because the regular adult pool was being repaired. But it was very hard to resist the temptation to slip off, just for a little while.
How was the CC party? Who is the current captain? I think Captain John said that he would be gone by now.
And good luck adjusting to being back home...I think that is always the worst part.

CRSNDSNY & CaliforniaDreaming,

Yes there was 3 Big Red Boats. Two have been sold to scrap and the one left is docked at Freeport. My DH informs me that they are selling staterooms as condos. We watch info about the BRB because we were on one of them for our honeymoon in 1990. We were in one of their 'suites' which was smaller than our Cat 5 last year. They refurbished the Big Red Boat right before they went bankrupt spending $25 million. Go to www.adventurespacruise.com to check it out. You may permanently buy a cabin for as low as $24K. It looks like they are making the ship into floating condos.

CRSNDSNY...keep the reports coming...2 more weeks til we leave for WDW:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Welcome Back Melody, even though it was a short four day cruise, I'm sure you had a WONDERful time!!!

Its actually oddly windy and chilly here in Orlando at the moment.
I heard this. Just had a friend come back from WDW about a week ago and she said they were wearing coats at night. At least I understand Orlando is going to warm up from the 40's to the 60's today. I'd kill for 60 right about now ! lol Our high in the Philly area is only going to be 37 today.
BTW, what is the coldest the Bahamas has ever gotten ? Anyone have an experience with a really chilly day ? Just curious as to what is the coldest month, on average, in the Bahamas ?

Hi everyone! I apologize for not posting at all the last few days, but the day I returned my FIL was transferred to a hopsice and passed away yesterday afternoon. Thankfully, we were all there with him holding him as he passed. It was very beautiful and sad all in the same. This is so hard since I went through the same thing with my own father only 7 years ago. Needless to say, we have been very busy taking care of the burial arrangements and of course, it has been very sad -- especially for my husband who is very close with his Dad.

Just so you all know, I took over 200 photos and plan to post each and every one of them over the holidays. I'll post when that is complete. Can't wait to share it all with you.

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday! You'll hear from me again soon.

My thoughts are with you, your DH and family at this sad time.

Melody,

Prayers goign out to you & DH. So glad that you were able to return in time to be there with him.

Hi fellow cruiser. We are so sad to hear this news. We'll say a prayer for you and your husband. We had so much fun reading your posts because we could see how excited you were and it made us more excited. I'm sorry that we didn't get to meet on this cruise, but it's a long voyage. I know that Andy is the honorary Dis Board Captain, but I nominate you for honorary Dis Board Cruise Director. Have a great voyage.

Hi Melody,

So sorry to hear of your FIL passing, we will keep you and your loved ones in our thoughts and prayers. It is especially hard to lose loved ones during the Holiday Season, we will be thinking of you over the next few trying and emotional days.

The Big Red Boat was actually 2 boats owned by Premier Cruise Lines. The line went bankrupt (no surprise, it wasn't very nice toward the end). One of the boats was stripped of hazardous materials, then sunk to make some sort of a reef area. A company bought it, but found it would cost too much to refurbish it, so "cut their losses." Don't know what happened to the other one. However, it is absolutley no loss.

Long ago, there were Disney characters on the Big Red...but Disney pulled their characters at teh end of their contract. Premier then had Looney Tunes characters for awhile. Tiny cabins, poor food, no room service, crummy kid programs (they watched videos and colored pictures).

Hey Melody~
I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. Your family will be in my prayers. I lost my Dad almost two years ago, so I remember this time of the year in detail and what he was going through. Just remember your father in law is at peace now, it will get easier

Take your time and post when you can, we'll be here for you.:grouphug:

Melody,

So sorry to hear about your FIL. I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Melody,

So very sorry to learn you had to come back to bad news. I remember how skeptical you were leaving your hubbie for this cruise. I am glad you were all there with DFIL when his calling came.

I lost my dear Dad last Jan after returning from our cruise. It was/is very sad to lose a parent, but I know he is at peace, guiding us from above and his memories will live in my heart forever. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. ^i^

God Bless
~ Sandie

Thank you all. You've all been so nice and thoughtful. It is very comforting to know I have friends here.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm very sorry to hear about you losing your FIL.

Hi CRSNDSNY

My condolences to your family, I am sorry to hear about your FIL.
I have enjoyed reading your trip reports. It looks like we were in the same room together, but somehow missed each other. I asked someone at the adult pool if she was you, but was wrong. We too upgraded at port to room 7056, and enjoyed our verandah. The last night was rather rough with the waves, our son was rather ill. I too won a pin at the "trivia session" on our last day in the theatre. I answered the question, "where do the crew members sleep?" I now wear my pin proudly! I also asked the question on whether Disney is building a third ship. (the answer was yes).
I was sorry to have missed you, I guess it means we will just have to book again. Personally, I think Disney puts something in the food to make you addictive to their ship!
Our daughter was in tears on the last night, she had the time of her life.
