I can't even imagine how sad and heartbroken his parents and family must feel. There can be no words. I got home from a long weekend yesterday to find an email from my son's cubscout leader letting us know that my son's 7yo friend, died from Acute myeloid leukemia that he had been fighting since December.

My son is away for the week with his father, he has been told but is out of town and will not be able to come home for the child friendly services that will be held. We will need to find another way to say goodbye.

So sad, much too young to have been through so much. :sad1:

:grouphug: sorry for the lost. :grouphug: how sad. my thoughts and prayers are with his family and your son as well. i hope he will be okay.

Wow... so sorry to hear this  It's tough at that age to understand... Someone will probably have a better suggestion to say goodbye but I've always liked the idea of letting a balloon go (to heaven) with a message tied to it...

Wow, I'm so sorry. I can't even begin to understand what the parents are going through. :grouphug:

I don't have any suggestions but wanted to say how sorry I am :grouphug: Prayers to his family and your son.

I do understand what the parents are going through , although I wish I didn't. Prayers for his family and you and your family. This makes you want to hug your children even more. :grouphug:

I can't even imagine the complete and utter saddness :sad2:
Thoughts and prayers are with you as you cope with this loss and also in helping your little guy to say his goodbyes:hug:

So sad. :sad1:

My DD (now 21) lost a classmate in 1st grade to the same thing. Her class was given permission to use a small area on the elementary school grounds for a garden. The kids (with a little help from the teacher and some parent volunteers) planted a tree and some flowers. They had a small plaque titled "Brooke's Garden" and they placed a small concrete bench at one end of the garden.

The children made "we love you" cards/artwork and presented them to Brooke's family at the garden's dedication.

When the kids were graduating 5th grade and thus leaving the school, they had a special celebration at Brooke's Garden in her honor. To this day, the garden is maintained; the tree has grown and we all remember the significance that garden has - to many families. :grouphug:

Thanks for all the hugs, I have a few days to put a strong face on for my son so I don't upset him because mommy's upset on top of it.

I LOVE this idea! This sounds like something Ty would love to do! Thank you.

A great memorial idea. Our town really tried to rally around his family. I am sure something beautiful will be dedicated in his memory.

I'm so sorry to hear that your Ds has lost his best friend, and at such a young age. As far as ways to remember your child's friend, I think that you could write a nice note to his parents with your child's help, remembering what was great about their son. It might also be cute to include your child's memories of happy times that they shared together, funny things that happened, anything along those lines would be appreciated, I would think. If you have any pictures of them together, which the parents may not have, that would be good too. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
