Some of you might remember when I posted a thread trying to decide whether or not to sell our DVC timeshare. Financially, it was the right thing to do. However, today the check came in the mail from the closing. Very sad to see it go.

I know we will rebound. As it stands, we've made good headway on our debt. This money is already earmarked to further reduce our debt load. Hopefully, we will be able to eliminate our debt load, and buy back in without putting ourselves back into financial trouble.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

Best of luck to you and your family. You did the right thing and you will be back.

You did the right think for your family. I am sure it is very sad but clearing your debt is the most important thing. When you are back on your feet, find a since resale and make it work again.

Sorry you had to make that tough choice. Hope things turn around and you'll be able to buy again soon! :wizard:

Sorry you had to make the choice, but undoubedtly a smart financial choice!

Best of luck and I hope you can purchase one day soon!:yay::yay:

Congrats on making a tough choice. Hoping you will soon be out of debt and in a position to buy back in.

It sounds like you made some very sound financial and personal decisions. Many would be better off if they took your lead. I'm sure you'll be a member again someday and under better circumstances and with far less associated stress. Good luck to you.

Congrats on doing the right thing. I know you'll be back with even more points!!!

RI will bounce back and it looks like you will too. It's a happy day for you.

I'm glad that things look brighter for you now. Best wishes!

Jason, don't be sad. Be proud that you made the hard, but right, decision for your family and your future. It's not easy, but you did it for all the right reasons.

I'm sure that you will be back in a good financial place sooner rather than later.

Once that happens, see what deals are out there, or investigate the resale sites, and you will be a member again before you know it.

No sense holding onto those points if you feel stressed and guilty about them. If you can't justify even using them, what is the point?

Hang in there. Again, you made the right choice for your family and it will work in your favor in the long term.

Sending you loads of good wishes and pixie dust so things improve for you quickly. :wizard:

Hopefully the economy will turn around and you'll be able to buy back in soon!:thumbsup2 Hurray for you to be able to make a tough decision like that!

We had built up too much of a debt load. About a year and half ago we started working hard on bringing down the debt. Things were going ok. Interest rates went up, and I took a temporary 5% cut in pay. Between both of those factors, we were back on the bubble. The decision to sell DVC was tough only in that we love Disney.

That said, our debt was self inflicted. We were living beyond our means. Today, we pay strictly by cash, and only get something when we save for it.

We bought this timeshare for cash through The Timeshare Store, and they sold it for us. The Timeshare Store did a great job of selling it for us in a short period of time. When things are all paid off, we will evaluate whether to buy back in or not. I am confident that we would work with The Timeshare Store at that time.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

Hopefully, as you've eased some of the financial burden you've also eased some of the emotional burden that comes along with debt. My hope for you and us all really is for the economy to improve.

You had the joy of DVC ownership and who know's what the future may bring, perhaps a resale. Good Luck!

What do you do when you get knocked down? GET RIGHT BACK UP...!!!

Take care of the finances.. we'll still be here to welcome you back home when you are ready!!!!
