Hi everyone, haven't posted here for a little while and things have been a bit hectic, and then recently my mum hasn't been well and finally passed away about 10 days ago. She recovered from cancer against all the odds, but it left her weaker than ever until she finally couldn't resist things any longer.

She was a wonderful lady of 76 years, and one of my favourite memories is taking her to Florida to celebrate DSs first birthday - she was so proud, as you can probably tell from this photo of the trip:

Of course, nearly in her 70s then, the trip tired her out at times:

We've just booked another trip to Florida for next August, and when we next go to the Magic Kingdom i'm going to find the rocking chair in the picture above, sit there with my son for a few mins, and remember my mum and that special trip we shared.

My thoughts are with you and your family Paul. I am sure she would have been touched by the moments you take to stop and remember the good times you have shared and how much she gave to you over the years

I love that first photo. It just captures so much of a perfect Disney trip with special family x

Thank you guys, that's very sweet of you.

I'm glad you like the photo 2Tiggies, i've only just realised tonight that Mickey and my DS Ryan are doing a mirror image finger-point :thumbsup2 He's 8 1/2 now, but loves looking at the old photos with his gran

So sorry to read this

I was only saying over on the DLP board earlier tonight that my Dad had been so keen for us to take our girls to WDW but sadly was too ill to come with us. Luckily he was able to see the photos of our very first trip and I'm so grateful for that.

You've got some very special photos there of that first trip with your Mum, I think it does help to lessen the pain a little when you've got special memories to treasure.

Not sure if you are into arty creative stuff, but have you thought of doing a scrapbook memory dedicated to your mum, which you could pass to your DS when he is older? He could even help putting the bits and pieces into it.

So sorry to hear of your loss-hugs to you and your family.

Thank you all so much for your lovely messages today, i've just logged on and read through them all, and am touched by your comments.

The idea of a scrapbook of all the pictures and keepsakes is a great one - thanks Lee - and it's caused me to look at a couple more photos from that 1st birthday trip, which i'd like to share with you.

It really is great to have these memories at a time like this, and also to have my 'extended family' here on the DIS :grouphug:
