Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

That was really beautiful, Dan, about Rainbow Bridge. I loved it! I have to show that to my DD. When she was in 4th grade (6 yrs ago) and her cat Stimpy died, her teacher point blank told her that animals/pets do NOT go to heaven. She was crushed!

Hugs to Chris, Britney and Dr. P ...how sad about your cat, Butter... they do become such an intricate part of the family, don't they...I also thought as I was reading your post Dr. P.. what a lucky woman Chris is to have such a caring husband...I have met your wife and your daughter when you were in Boston for that convention, but have never had the privilege of meeting you.. one of these days, I hope to.. I am so sorry for your loss My cat had his teeth cleaned about two years ago. Fortunately he was ok after-although completely disoriented from being put under. He could barely stand. Recently my vet wanted to have his teeth cleaned again. He has quite a bit of build up and gum disease. He will turn 10 in February. I was hesitant the first time but now that he is older I'm not sure if I should. They had to pull three molars the last time he went in. I'd hate to go through what you have DoctorP

I'm so sorry. I know that pain all too well. I still get very teary-eyed when I think of when we lost KC last summer. Your family has certainly had a rough time of it lately. Give Britt a hug for me.
