I don't know if this has been posted, but I just got back from WDW and Sci Fi is getting rid of the seared marinated tofu. Wednesday will be the last day to get it! They said they are replacing it with a veggie burger, lame!!!

the veggie burger has always been available at sci fi - just as it is available at any TS restaurant - whether it's on the menu or not..
you can always request a veggie burger at any of the TS restaurants..

as for sci fi - you can order vegetarian pasta - it's not on the menu, but they'll make it for you...it's a vegetarian version of the shrimp pasta..

it's outstanding!!

DD just had it last week...(3 times)

No! :sad1: That's my favorite dish at Disney.

Oh, that's disappointing! Did they say why? We have an ADR there in October which I made just for that tofu dish. I guess I'll be cancelling. Veggie burgers are a dime a dozen. When I go out to eat I don't want a veggie burger!!

That's upsetting! That's one of the only tofu dishes in Disney that's on the menu as-is. But veggie burgers are everywhere!

I know you can get a veggie burger at any TS, and that is why it is disappointing that they are replacing something unique with something we can get ANYWHERE. I'm guessing if they are getting rid of the tofu dish, you won't be able to get tofu in your veggie pasta dish anymore, which is what some guests get.

If I remember correctly, they said the tofu dish just wasn't popular enough to keep on the menu. :/

Bummer! We have a lunch ADR in October and that is exactly what I was going to get. I saw the pic in the vegetarian thread and it looked super yummy and healthy. And I'm not even vegetarian!

Well, that is just unfortunate. . . I had that as an alternate option one of our ADRs. . . I'm not sure it was my sole reason for considering a meal there-----but I was pleased with the vegetarian menu option. HUGH SIGH.

My guess is that they had a larger number of people asking about ordering a veggie burger then ordering the tofu. So, when they looked at the overall number of people ordering versus who ordered a veggie burger versus who ordered the tofu, it may have made no sense to keep the tofu on the menu.

I actually thought this offering was gross. I'm sorry others are upset it's going but I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread. Now I know about the other options I can choose from when we go in November. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry, but it's marinated tofu. Is it really that hard to manage? It probably isn't ordered that often, so it's not like they have to keep a large amount on hand. Which means if some of it gets old and has to be discarded, it isn't a great loss.

I was a veg for a number of years and appreciated that some of the WDW TS locations had some variety. This kind of thing is just lame to me.

1) It is not the normal WDW veggie burger.
2) It is the Gardenburger Black Bean (vegan) burger.

Even worse news.

But at least, I hope, they *tell you* on the menu that it's the black bean burger. For awhile at disneyland that was the "veggie burger" served at the CS restaurants, but it didn't SAY black bean burger, just veggie burger. Every so often I'm in the mood for one of those, but it's a specialty item IMO, NOT a regular veggie burger.

interesting thread. although I am in no way a vegetarian, I do LIKE veggies and always think I want to try vegetarian offerings because I would probably like it. Unfortunately when I see these things discussed I realize there is very little likelihood that I could get away with it considering my food allergies. :headache:

I had the vegetarian pasta dish at Sci Fi and I didn't like it at all. It didn't have much of a flavour. I was disappointed at the options Sci Fi offered. I wish I'd have tried the Tofu dish now! :sad2:

1) It is not the normal WDW veggie burger.
2) It is the Gardenburger Black Bean (vegan) burger.

That doesn't make it any better. I can buy those at the supermarket at home and make them anytime I wanted.

Sad news. This was DH's favorite dish from our entire last trip. Thanks for sharing.

1) The current veggie burger IS NOT the black bean burger.
2) It is a Gardenburger style not available to retail markets.
3) Only available wholesale.
4) The replacement is the Black Bean.
5) This appeases the vegan segment.
