Sad Day

 such a sad day, I've been there before and will be there again. Just can't give up the love that dogs can give me. Remember the fun days of throwing, and running and know that you are helping and loving him today.

 :grouphug: Blessings to you as you face a tough day & some difficult tomorrows. Please be comforted to know that you gave your beloved Griffen a home where he was loved & cared for, and you loved him enough to let him go at the end. It's the worst part of giving our hearts so totally to a pet because the time we have with them is never long enough. But even no matter how much it hurts in the end, it's well worth it.

Very sorry to hear that about Griffin, Peg. Words and prayers of comfort to both you and Kendall. You guys will recall the many good years of love and friendship, forever. And he will soon be there, waiting.....

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

 I'm sorry, Peg. You are doing the right thing but I know it must be hard (hard enough that I'm not sure I could do it.)

I am so sorry, that is a very difficult decision. I will certainly keep you and your family in my prayers.

You have my deepest sympathy. As a pet lover, and owner of two golden retrievers, your post brought tears to my eyes. I will definitely keep you and Griffin in my prayers today.:sad1::hug:

I am sooooo sorry... our pets are so important to our lives. I remember the pain of losing each one like it was yesterday.

Hugs to you and your dd...

I'm so sorry Peggy. But, know that Griffen thanks you. I've walked in your shoes and it's not an easy walk. But....know that you are doing the right thing. We had the same experience....put my golden on pain meds and they worked like magic for a few months. But, the time came when we could no longer do that...so, we let him go. It is a painful decision but one that is best for the animal, not for us, the owner. We do our pets a huge diservice when we prolong their lives simply because it's just to hard to let them go. They depend on us to do the right thing. You are, have done, the right thing. Know that.
I know Kendall will understand...she will be sad and miserable for a bit, but she will understand.
Hugs to you both as you get through this most miserable of days!!

I had to put my 10 year old flat coated retreiver Max down in 2007. It was one the hardest things I have ever done. Less than 4 weeks later I got an 8 week old yellow lab who we named GRIFFIN!!! He will never replace Max in my heart but he now owns me. He is my spoiled litlle (big) brat!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you too. Dogs truly become a part of your family, and I can't imagine having to make such a difficult decision. Cherish the memories.

:hug: :littleangel: Sending good thoughts your way. We have two goldens. They make us laugh so much on a daily basis. It is like having 2 toddlers at times. One just turned 3 and the other is almost 2. I know the years will pass much too quickly.:sad2:

My thoughts are with Griffen, you and Kendall today. Gentle

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter. May you always remember the fun you had with Griffin and know that he wil no longer suffer.

I am so sorry:hug: Prayers for you family.

I'm so sorry for what you've had to do today. I wish our pets didn't have such short lifespans. :(
