I booked our family of 5 vacation at the Grand...we have been so excited! And now we have added another person to our trip and to stay at the Grand would be an additional $4300 vs the $2200 already paid for the week.

So we've opted to stay at the BW Park Place Inn which we have stayed at many many times and have always been comfortable...but this time we feel just a little slighted. Not because we have the extra person going but because we have dreamed of being at the Grand for about 8 weeks now.

For those of you staying at DGC during the week of April 25th please be thinking of us! For the lucky family who gets the room I just gave up tonight...have a fantastic trip on us...well kind of :thumbsup2

None of my business, but couldn't the extra person pay their own way, or at least part of the bill. Who would join you at the last minute that would cause you to lose your room. Can't you add a rollaway? So sorry. I would be so disapointed.

They probably only allow 5 people per room. Therefore, towit and foresooth another room is needed. :confused3 (I could be wrong though, wont be the first time. :sad2:)

No the person can't pay part of their own way...it's a child. And really...the extra cost for one person was huge! Too large of an amount for us to justify a suite at the Grand.

But we're ok with it...it's just going to take a few days to come down.

We thought about just ignoring the house rules of 5 people in the room but it was getting to all of us about having to sneak around. When I finally changed my reservations the CM asked me if I knew why the fire codes were written the way they are. I really didn't have a clue as to what he was going to say.

The fire code is put in place in case of an actual fire wherein the firefighters go in and look for individuals. If they know there are 5 people registered in a particular room and they take out 5...they wouldn't look for another person and move on to the next room.

Pretty sad for the person who wasn't accounted for...then I really felt guilty for thinking that it wouldn't matter.

So Park Place Inn here we come!

I understand your disappointment but try to focus on the positives. You will be in Disneyland and I am sure the child you are bringing is going to have a terrific time along with you!!! The rules for hotels are there for a reason and I am glad you are doing the right thing. You will just have to go back to DL and stay at GCH next time! Have a magical trip!!:wizard:

...and you can put away all the money you saved not staying at the Grand toward your next trip...to stay at the Grand. :)
and you will still have a 'grand' time. (sorry..I used to work at the MGM Grand and we had to say "Have a grand day" all the time...)

We will have a good time! The little girl we are bringing is one of my daycare kids. Thank goodness we didn't tell my grandson we were staying at the Grand ahead of time...that would have been devestating to him.

BWPPI will be just perfect for the 6 of us...no shuttles, continental breakfast, a bed for everyone and a quick walk across the street! :yay:

Nunzia....we will have a "Grand" time! Thanks...

sorry to hear this but glad you will be able to still go.Me and the family will be there april 25th for 11 days staying at the gch my daughter can't wait i don't think it would matter were we stayed as long as she gets to see Mickey. The hotel is more for me and the wife to enjoy lol

How many days are you staying?

We are staying 7 nights...would have been so relaxed at DGC with so much space just to wonder...oh well...maybe another time. We can still walk down and enjoy the lobby and patio. No worries for us...

Exactly ~ IMO the room that we had at the Grand wasn't anything special, I didn't care for how dark it was *I prefer the rooms at PP & DLH. The lobby and other common areas are lovely so enjoy them and enjoy your time in the parks.

Dopey's MIL you are so sweet to bring a day care kid with you! Also I am laughing at your saying below your name about the toilet. When my DD was 3 she was so scared of the automatic toilets. She would scream and cry because she thought it would take it down with her. Now she is 6 but we still use sticky notes to cover the little eye while my DD is going. :)
Have a great trip!

I've taken 2 - 4 daycare kids to DL for 11 or 12 years now. Always on Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend. It's only been in the last couple of years that we started going in April and the later part of September.

There is a method to my madness however...if I take daycare kids with me I get a DL vacation for myself plus I call it an "extended field trip" and I write the trip off! :rotfl:

Well, then. heck, go for the suite at the GCH! :goodvibes

Hopefully it's not too sad of a day in your house - you are all heading to DLR for a week! Sounds like a reason to be very happy!

Enjoy,

I know the feeling. I was thinking of staying at the GC this week but change my mind for Hyatt because I wanted to save money. (Doing the Cruise next year and wanted to pay it off.)
