I am trying to plan our May '09 vacation. Since it is a slower time, I was hoping that we may be able to snag a 1bd at BCV and finally try it out.

My worry is about all of the posts about the big pool that is difficult to watch kids at. We will have an almost 6 yo, a 3.5yo and a 6 month old. Dd who will be almost 6 loves slides. It was nice at SSR, OKW and BWV because the slide is clearly visible from the pool. We could stay in the pool and watch her climb the stairs and come down the slide. From the pictures I have seen, it doesn't look like this is the case at BCV. Plus the slide looks a little scarier than most.

Should we wait a few more years before trying out BCV? We really would like to stay there, but the pool is a big part of our vacation. Will it be too much to manage with kids that small? I kinda thought the sand bottom will be nice with the little one. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Plenty of people do SAB with kids your age and have a great time. I'm one of the "difficult to watch kids" people, my kids are eight and nine and we still wouldn't do SAB (but I think we are really close) - but I am me and you are you.

You cannot see where the entrance to the slide at SAB is from the exit to the slide. You cannot see either of these areas from the zero entry area your younger kids are likely to be in. The slide is long and tunnelled, but there are smaller slides in the shipwreck (however, that isn't visible from anywhere). You are likely to have to split the team to enjoy the pool.

The pool is wonderful & I would highly recommend that you go there as long as one of you will be able to attend to your DD while she goes down the slide. IMO, a 6yo is too young to be going off & riding that slide by her herself. Someone will want to walk her over to the steps, go up with her, ride down right before her, & wait at the bottom.....at least that's how I would do it.

Even if you (or DH) doesn't go up & ride down the slide, but just wants to wait at the bottom...the slide does not drop into the fun, very shallow area of the pool where the babies & toddlers hang out...that area is on the other side, not visible from the slide drop off area.

Unless you're comfortable with sending your 6 year old out of the pool area, across the boardwalk, and up the stairs, I wouldn't do it. Of course if 1 parent stays with the 2 little ones and 1 goes and slides with the 6 year old, then you're OK. It is a great pool. But that pool is a lot of work if you have little ones. I've done it. Let's just say I waited a few years before I booked there again.:)
