I am coming to AKL for a very quick trip in Dec. I currently have breakfast reservations at Boma and lunch reservations at Saana. I do not think I can do both since they are only 2 hours apart and I won't be hungry enough. I originally booked Saana for the good views of the animals (not so much for the food choices...)before I had a room at AKL. Once I switched my resort to AKL with an Arusha view room, I will have plenty of opportunities to see animals. Thinking of animal viewing opportunities only, is it worth it to go over to Kidani to eat at Saana or should I just stick with breakfast at Boma. I think my family will like the menu at Boma better.

From what I've read, not all tables at Sanaa have a view of animals, plus it's dependent on whether or not the animals are over by the Sanaa windows. So, if your main focus is on seeing animals, I would probably stick with the Arusha view room (great view of the animals!) and have breakfast at Boma (but I'm biased because that's my favorite place for breakfast at WDW).

If you want to see the animals it is best to visit the main viewing area when they have the events at night.
At any given time there may or may not be animals on any of the Savannahs as they are free to roam. We have had a room on the Arusha Savannah 3 times and I can tell you we saw the least animlas from these rooms. The Animals were there when they feed them mostly in the late morning and around 6PM.
Please also note that you have a request for the Arusha Savannah it is not 100% that you will get that view but you likely will as there are plenty of rooms.
Do not base where you are eating on seeing animals nor your room as unless you plan on spending long periods at either you may not be happy... What ever Savannah you end with talk to a guide on the main Savannah and you will get a good idea as to the times you will see animals.
I will say it is amazing to see the animals from your room when they are out but far more things happen at the main viewing areas of either Jambo house or Kidani village.
