Thanks.

S.S. Member Cruise 2005 - SOLD OUT!

Disney Vacation Club Members are taking over the ship again! It's all part of "The Happiest Celebration on Earth," our year-long salute to the 50th anniversary of Disneyland® Park, with events that span the globe. We're thrilled to announce that our magical community will have their very own celebration aboard the Disney Wonder®! Scheduled over Labor Day Weekend 2005 (September 4-8), we've designed an exclusive itinerary with scheduled visits to Key West, Florida and Castaway Cay, plus magical surprises created especially for Members.

Our cost was 246 points for 2 in a category 9. This is the primary reason that we are so heavily borrowed!!!

Can't wait to meet other Dis'ers and DVC members!

Thanks for the replies.

Was this a good deal?

Did those who went choose points or cash?

It sold out so something must be good.

Hi, I can see that you're new, but the debate about the "value" of the Members Cruise went on and on. If you did a search you probably could come up with some of the threads.

We booked using points because we could. We're willing to sail in September and think the DCL is classy, and can't wait to be on Castaway Cay!!!!

At risk of re-opening the debate, I think even those who booked would agree that it is something of a prestige event. The point costs are higher than even a standard cruise, although all tips are included (which is not standard for Disney Cruise bookings) and there's the promise of a lot of goodies for members.

DVC opened on a Saturday specifically to take cruise bookings, and it filled-up that same afternoon. So clearly there is demand.

If you missed this one, stay tuned. I'm sure there will be another in a year or two. When Disney has the opportunity to fill and entire cruise date in five hours' time during an off-peak period, you better believe they are going to leverage it to the hilt. ;)

On a dollar-for-dollar basis, no, it probably wasn't a good deal. There certainly weren't any discounts off of the standard rates if that's what you are asking. But, like so many things "Disney", if you want to be a part, there is only one place to go. Many, many members think it worth the premium price to be a part of the event. To those folks, it was very much a worthwhile event. Besides, if we all held the same opinion of the "value" of a DVC point, Old Key West would be the resort with 100% occupancy and a waitlist a mile long. :teeth:

definitly looks like the place to be, good deal or not, but I was too slow calling in and missed out that special Saturday booking morning.. So we are taking the 3 day just after.. Everyone getting off from the Member Cruise please wave to me :confused3
