I am considering doing this. The threads I have seen so far are extremely long. Can anyone tell me what I need to know and be aware of before doing this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I opened one of these accounts through a referal from a friend. It's a great way for me to save money for our trip and other expenses. And it's earning 2.1% righht now. Another great thing is that you can earn $25 for opening an account through a referal and then earn $10 more per person that you refer. To open an account you only need to have a checking account at another bank and an initial deposit of at least a dollar. Plus adults over 16 need thier drivers license number. If you want more info, pm me.

There is no secret with ING. It is a great way to start saving for Disney or anything else for that matter.

All you need to do is PM or email people who post in the ING threads and ask for a referrel. They will be happy to give you one.

When you PM them...give them your first - last name and an email address. You will get 25.00 for opening and then you can referrer others to get the 10.00 bonus. You can get up to 250 in bonus money.

Let me know if you need anything else.

You will just love ING!!!! It is really great "watching your money grow"!!! I think it is a great tool to teach your children about saving! For some reason it is more "real" to my children when viewing online instead of just looking at their bank book. Go figure!!!

You also should be aware that it could take up to 3 business days to transfer your money from ING to your checking. So if you're saving for something specific be sure to transfer the money a few days before you actually need it.

Hi RweTHEREyet!

I recognize you from DVC!!

I've been a customer of ING since January after having learned about it here!

I love it! I put in $20 a month automatically each month. I referred my immediate family and a couple of DISers way back in January...and I also put some tax money in and I've got a good little 'rainy day' fund going!!

You can refer your whole family, including kids. You can use the same checking for all and deposit as little as $1. in each. You will have to verify your account (could take a couple of days) but meanwhile you can already refer others. You can also use the same email address for your whole family as well.

Once you transfer money IN to ING, they will hold it for 7 days before they will let you take it back out.

Any bonus money you make will also be held for 30 days, after the 30 days, you can transfer it all out if you wanted and close your account, but I wouldn't do that if I were you!

There are no fees whatsoever! The rate is 2.10%

The maximum amount you can get with one account is $250 for 25 referrals but you can also do referrals with your DH and kids accounts as well. Those referral bonuses are on top of the $25 for each account.

When you want to transfer money OUT, it can take up to 3 or 4 days to see it but it averages 2 days. Longer if you go over a weekend.

If you do open an account for children, they must be the primary account holder and you'd be the secondary. The accounts will be joint and you won't have to verify your account again with minors.

All the bonus money is considered interst.

I can't think of anything else right now! HOpe this helps! If you want a referral, all you have to do is PM someone privately with your first and last name and your email address and you're good to go!

PS... if you have Microsoft money they offer a $50 bonus!

Take care!

turbo tax also offers a $50 bonus - they state you need a product key to get the bonus.

the whole program in my eyes is really great and I love not only earning money but free money too!!

I remember when ING first started advertising a few years ago, back then the interest was like 4%. I didn't open an account then, but I did just recently, hoping the economy gets better and the interest rate goes up again, that would really be nice!

Does ING offer a debit card like Paypal does?

No, sorry, it doesn't.

It's just a savings linked to your checking and you can do transfers back and forth.

yeah and I think that offering a debit card would just help most of us "lose" savings as it would be too wasy to access so I am happy there isn't one!!

DITTO!!

I've got $125 sitting in my account already and I've only had it for 2 weeks. $10 of it came out of my checking account and the rest was the $25 bonus and the $10 referrals!! :cool1: :cool1:

Yes those referrels sure help the account to start growing fast. I have mostly referrel money in mine too. I am starting automatic transfers next paycheck.

We are going to disney!

I'm interested in this ING banking idea to save money for my next WDW trip. Looking to see who has opened an account recently and what they think of it so far!

TIA:sunny:

Love it! Love it! Love it!

I work for a bank so I feel slightly like a traitor sending my money to another institution. But when I look at ING's rate (2.20%) compared to the rate at my bank (.40%), I get over it pretty quickly! :p The fact that I can't withdraw my money by simply going to an ATM helps make it a little easier to save.

I made about $160 so far in account opening/referral bonus money which doesn't hurt either!

If you have any specific questions or if you need a referral to get started, just send me a PM.

Good luck!

i've recently opened an account but i havent' had much experience with it yet. but it seems ok and a really good deal.
