I read that they have finished the Preferred buildings but I haven't been able to find where they have roomed to next and I'm hoping someone here might know? I've booked a Standard room so I know I will not get a refurbed room but I really wanted to not be in a building right next to where the workers are so I'm hoping that someone has been to SSR recently and could tell me where are the workers now?

They haven’t finished the preferred rooms yet, just Congress Park. Right now they have moved to the other preferred section, The Springs. Grandstand and Paddock are lovely standard areas. My preference being The Paddock for the pool, counter service and proximity to DS.

I have stayed in the Paddock area before and do you if all of the Paddock area is Standard. Also we were in a building close to Congress Park which we liked but if we end up at the far end of Paddock can you tell me how long of a walk is it if you wanted to walk over to Disney Springs.

We've stayed in SSR 3 times now....twice in Grandstand & once in Paddock...I don't remember the room # for Paddock but it was the 4th bldg furthest north. 5101-5436 last room on the NW' side 2nd floor....We only walked back one time from DS, and it was later at night, & I'm guessing we were dragging a lil. It had to be at least 10 mins. if not longer. So the furthest bldg, may or may not be longer depending on which side of that bldg. you're in...The path might be quicker going around the front of the lake by SPRINGS.

@js Not exactly... Some face the wooded area. It all depends on which of the 4 sides of the bldg. you are on.

Not by a long shot. Back side of all buildings ar Congress Park face away toward the bus stop and roadway. And remember that Springs is also preferred view While it is convenient to the Carriage House there are no DTD views at all.

I venture to say for preferred location, most people want Congress Park DTD view. So you have to figure your chances. Have owned SSR since it opened. I rarely get one and always ask if I book preferred. YMMV

Preferred and Standard are location. View is not bookable. If you look at the Congress Park buildings and how they are placed, it is impossible for all units to face DS.

Going to keep my Standard location. We are three couples going for my 30th anniversary in a GV and our main focus is dinner/drinks in DTD with a few park days. I'm not going to spend the extra points for view, especially the two other couples don't have a clue or care. I'll use the extra points for my September trip.
