Alright, I need some help! LOL! For awhile I've been searching for a resort to stay at next March and I kept coming up with Cypress Point. However, it looks like there are 2 separate resorts.....one called just "Cypress Point", the other called the Cypress point GRAND VILLAS. I thought I was going nuts!

Could anyone tell me the difference between the two? I take it they are all part of the same resort, correct? Which one is older? Which one is better? It looks to me like the Villas are slightly more expensive. Is it because they're nicer?

Another question....is this a timeshare or condo complex also? If so, how exactly does that work? This is the first time I'm considering staying at some place like this and I'm severely confused so please excuse my ignorance!

I just need a little info from those who've stayed here. I see that it pretty much gets rave reviews from most everyone who has stayed here.

Thanks in advance,
Jackie

We haven't stayed here but are going to next November!!! From what we've found out, the CP Resort part is the older buildings...negative part: no elevators, older fixtures and fittings etc. - Positive: In the same building as the registration and small on-site shop, in the same part as the 'Volcano' pool, many of the units have been recently updated.

Grand Villas - Negative : Quite a walk to the shop area, volcano pool etc. Positve: newer bulidings, elevators included, own 'Turtle' pool area. Slightly larger units.

Try having a look on this site for info: cypresspointe.net

It IS a timeshare place run by a company called Sunterra but from what I have read, there is no obligation to attend timeshare presentations etc and no hard sell stuff either. The best price I've seen for this resort is on hotelkingdom.com. i don't know if this is where you've seen it but their rates are very good!!!

Hope that helps!!! :teeth:

We stayed in the Grand Villas last July and really enjoyed ourselves. Our unit was impeccably clean, as were the grounds. We really enjoyed having all that extra space, and will never be able to go back to staying in a regular hotel room again. We also enjoyed having a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, and a full balcony to sit out on and drink our coffee every morning.

We toured Cypress Pointe (which is in the same complex, just Phase I - the Grand Villas are Phase II, and newer). They were nice as well, but they looked a little rundown. We were glad we went with the extra $20 it cost to stay in the newer Grand Villas.

We did the timeshare tour because we were offered $75 in Disney dollars if we did it, but we were under no obligation, nor were we hassled. When we checked in, we were asked if we wanted to do it. I originally said no, and they accepted that with no problem. But then I thought about it, and figured we had some down time built into our trip, and since that $75 in Disney dollars was so appealing to me, I called them back and said we'd like to do it. The tour was interesting, and not a hard sell (we had a great salesperson, very friendly and not at all pushy). On the 91st minute, I said we were not interested, that there was no way we would buy timeshare without giving it a great deal of thought, and they gave us our $75 Disney dollars. Easiest $75 I ever made! :)

Let me know if you have any more questions! :)

I've stayed at the Resort and Grandvillas. Grandvillas are much nicer but the resort is okay. Grandvillas have a little a shop on it's grounds, so it's not necessary to walk to the Resort. My 3 little DS's and I walked to the volcano pool with no problem. If you have some type of disability it might be a problem, but it wasn't far.
Do a search on here for both and you will find a lot of info.

Just wondering, does this resort have any BBQ grills, were we could grill dinner?

Thanks so much to everyone who replied. And yes, I did go to Hotelkingdom.com and found a great rate!

I think we're going to try this out on our next trip in March.

Thanks again!

Lilystar - Can I ask you for a small favour....as you'll be there before us (if you DO go to Cypress Pointe), is there any chance you could post a short report about the resort when you return? We probably won't be booking our accomodation until April or May, so I'd be grateful for a 'recent' review of the place!!!

Many Thanks in advance! :D :wave2:
