I saw this post in the Oscars thread and wondered what movies that are famous or well-known you haven't seen.

For me, it's ET and Titanic*. If a movie gets really big and everybody starts telling me I have to see it, I tend to dig in my heels. And with these, I've gone so long I probably won't see them, just out of orneriness.

*--I have actually seen it from the point where they hit the iceberg. Disaster movies are a guilty pleasure of mine. So I skipped the romance part. :D

Can't really think of any at the moment. Over the past few years I've watched TCM quite bit and caught up with a lot of those classics from the 40s and 50s.

I've seen both ET and Titanic and have no desire to see them again.

Saw......none of them

I do like disaster movies.
I'll find more as people post them....I can't think of popular movies I haven't seen just thinking about it, other than the one + I mentioned

Most of them. I am not into things like Marvel, which have been the big blockbusters. I don’t like thrillers or horror films, or sci-fi, or fantasy either. I haven’t seen classics like The Godfather, or the Harry Potter series. I would say I haven’t seen probably 90%+ of the movies out there, and don’t care to.

I generally like musicals, romances, movies based on history or books I have read, and maybe half of the Disney animated films (no live action remakes though). I haven’t seen a movie in a theater since Titanic. I usually wait for the DVD release or catch them on TV.

I haven't seen any of the Godfather movies. Not interested in gangster/mob/mafia stuff. I also haven't seen any James Bond movies all the way through. They bore me.

I have not seen any of the Harry Potter movies. I saw the first Hunger Games but didn't care to see any more of it. I have never actually sat through TItanic, but I have seen enough peices of it to put it all together in my head. I have seen most of the major classics, except for Gone With the Wind - a glaring omission I know.

I have seen the first Godfather, and I don't care for that kind of stuff either and never bothered with any others. I liked older James Bond movies, but recent ones are a hard pass for me.

I haven't seen most of the Marvel, Harry Potter or recent DC comics superhero movies.

I don't usually watch the streaming services, so I haven't seen it if it's on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + or Apple TV+. I actually have Disney + (only the kids use it). And I have Amazon, but zero interest in the programming. And I have Netflix for the next couple of weeks (only get it for one show).

Almost no interest in new films. I've got zero patience for drama-y, feelings-y films starring people I've never heard of. Comedy is no longer funny since the poop joke died. Do they even make romance films? Action or sci-fi gets silly with the over-complicated CGI stunts. Do they make horror anymore either?

Too many to count. Last time I saw a movie in a cinema was in 2003. We don’t stream or rent. Once in a while I’ll watch an older movie on cable but really I’m just not into watching movies.

ET
Any of the Star Wars except the “first” one in 1977.
Indiana Jones and any sequels.
Only the first Harry Potter.
No superhero Marvel.
No Batman except the 1967 Adam West version. It’s hilarious.

Probably dozens of others.

SAW

This reminded me of the old Blockbuster top 100 list on the little trifold papers which caught me up to date on decades of films, I think it was Siskel and Ebert who were the best together with their on air fights. I miss when critics talked about talent now this is the LAST thing that gets attention :/

Prior to the pandemic we saw one movie in a typical year. Been that way probably for 20 years, so pretty much any big movie in the last 20 years I haven't seen.

So many I haven't seen. Have rarely gone to a theater, usually catch movies on tv & so much easier now with streaming.
I don't think I ever made it all the way thru the first Harry Potter movie (& book also)
When Harry Met Sally
None of the Star Wars
No Rambo or Rocky after the first one.
Took me forever to watch Gone With The Wind from beginning to end. I had seen parts of it many times & finally caught it one day at the beginning so finally saw it complete.

The Godfather
Me too! Just no interest. Not Pulp Fiction either.

I have seen all the Harry Potter and Star Wars movies and a lot of Marvel. I can handle cartoon- like violence but not real life violence. The message of the Harry Potter movies, similarly Lord of the Rings, of good triumphing over evil really resonates with me.

Also haven't seen Pulp Fiction. I don't mind violence, but I get bored with long, epic dramas. I don't have the attention span for 6+ hours of mafia family drama.

Another for The Godfather series.

I've also skipped a lot of the famous horror movies.
