Count me in the camp of those who like a little workout in my day. I also expect, on our trip this August, to be following a training plan for a fall race.

Where are your favourite places to run around the World? We're doing a split stay between AKL/BW/CR and have never stayed at those resorts before.

Also, someone mentioned the pools open later now, at 9. Last time we visited I think they opened at 7 and I would squeeze in a quick swim in the quiet pool starting around 6:30 no problem... :cool1: I'm guessing it might not be realistic to think I could do that now, several hours before they open?

DH is a runner, and his favorite place to run is around the lake between BWV and BCV. From here you can also easily add the path along the water between BWV and HS.

There are good routes within SSR and OKW, also - because they are big, condo type resort properties.

GF's route goes over through the Poly, and it's nice, but a bit shorter and he has to run in circles a few times to get it done.

We've never stayed at CR, so I can't help you there.

His least favorite place to run is AKV, because there really isn't anyplace to run. It's pretty much through the parking lot between AKV and AKL - there is no shoulder on the roadway and if you're found running on it they will ask you to get off of it. We didn't understand why until we stayed there, and once we saw the main road up to the resort we understood.

Happy Running!

Due to the sheer numbers of individuals I have observed, I would have to say the favorite places to run must be at each park at rope drop!

ALK = Treadmill.

CR = You can run on the path up to/past the MK entrance, but it's fairly short. An alternative would be to take the boat over to WL and run the trail there. You can get in a few nice (shaded) miles that way.

BW = Around the lake and over toward HS is your best bet. Just keep looping around until you're done.

This is one of the reasons I stay at the Boardwalk. An early morning run around the lake can't be beat. You have the old school jazz, boat horns going off and it's basically a ghost town. Gives you one of the best serene feelings anywhere on property. The run down to DHS is great too, you can pass the BW pool and go right to the gate and loop back.

I did that and added on the route from the resort map to make it about 5k. Not a fan. You have to dodge a lot of guest and cars. If you have the time, go to WL.
Also, check out mapmyrun.com. I get a lot of suggestions on routes from there when I travel.

Thanks for all the replies! I hadn't seen that map - that's useful.

I did run the trail at WL when we were on our last trip and enjoyed that very much. Saw lots of deer on the path! Maybe I'll try that again.

Luckily I will be due for my long run when we are at BW and with the loop around the lake it should be easier, relatively speaking, to pull it off there than at the other two resorts.

By the time we get to the CR for our last few days I may be ready to throw in the towel on the idea of getting a workout in!!
