After a couple weeks of lurking I decided to ask some questions.

DW and I are planning a trip from 9/21-9/28 at POP and another from 1/21-1/28/06 at POP and POFQ. We're getting AP's. It also looks like we are going to get the DDE cards. I wanted to buy the AP's from the Disney Earport in MCO so we wouldn't have to bother with going to one of the parks with the vouchers. I also wanted to get the AP's ASAP when getting to Orlando so I could call and order the DDE cards. From what I understand the cards are good for a year from date of issue. I have read where others have ordered the DDE cards with the voucher # for the AP's but I'd rather wait until Sept just in case I can convince DW to take another trip down before both the AP's and DDE cards expire. After calling the DDE # and talking to a CM she told me while it would take a few weeks to get the cards they could fax a letter over to my resort so I could use it right away.

So here are my questions. After getting the AP's can I call on the way to my resort and have the fax waiting for me when I get there or do I need to be checked in? We are coming into Orlando around 11 AM on a Wednesday so I know the DDE line will be open and I want to hit the parks right away. :) For my second question, does this sound like a conceivable plan?

Sorry for the long first post. While I'm not new to Disney this will be my first time getting an AP.

Ken

Sorry, I can't answer your questions, but wanted to say WELCOME TO THE DIS!! Congrats on getting the AP's & for already having 2 trips in the works!

I ordered mine like January 12th I believe and it is actually good through Jan 31, 2005.

When I ordered mine I did not have to give the woman on the line my passholder number...this could have been due to high call volume though!

You will not need to be checked in to have it be faxed there, but I'm not sure if they would be able to fax your DDE confirmation right away to your resort or not. I called when I got my DDE card in Jan and they just sent me a confirmation e-mail I printed out at home, but I did not get it the same day...it was sent the next day (maybe due to high call vloume? i'm not sure). You might just call and order the DDE card a week before you go and have them send the confirmation e-mail and just ask if the expiration date can coincide with your pass you are getting in a week? This way you know you have the paperwork and do not have to wait for a fax. Plus you can print off an extra copy just in case.

If I was you I would get the AP vouchers from Disney ahead of time and order the DDE from home. You are traveling at a low time of year for Disney so it will not take long for you to activate the passes at whichever park you go to. Plus you will have the DDE e-mail with you and not have to wait for a fax that might not get faxed right away or go to the wrong fax number etc. I had my pass activated on Sept 30 of last year and it took like 2 minutes for the woman to punch in my info from my drivers license and print the pass and I was on my way.

I hope this helps :)

This sounds like the best plan. Several people have been able to order their DDE card without an AP. You can always try it.
