?'s for those that mail a pkg to resort

Do you call your resort ahead of time and ask them if its ok to mail a package down? We're staying at VWL. How soon do you mail it? I'd probably use UPS. Do you call to see if its been rec'd or does UPS/FED EX/USPS inform you? I read on another thread they only hold pkgs 5 days - thats not long.

Hi! Don't know if you got an answer to your question but I just had an item I bought off a website shipped straight to our resort with UPS 3day ground service. I called the resort and they stated the would hold our package for up to 3-4 days after we check in which is 9/24. The resort also stated to address it this way:

Disney Port Orleans Riverside Resort
Attn: Your name (date of check-in (put date here) )
123 abc rd
Lake buena visita, fl 00000

They told me not to put my reservation number due to security reasons even though I have read others have without problems. Our package will be there 9/25. I read others who have done this with any problems and hopefully we will be one of those also.

If you go to the UPS website and go to the calculate shipping section you will be able to figure out what day is best for you to ship the item and see when it would get there and an estimated price. For example, when we went in May, my check in was a Sunday so I needed my package to get there on the Fri.(no deliveries on the weekend) So on the UPS website it said if it was shipped on the Tues before it would get there on Fri, gauranteed. It only ended up costing about $10-15. I was able to track it online. UPS gives you that info. Since we weren't leaving until Sun, I was able to see that it got delivered on that Fri. and I printed out that info from online and took it with me.
As far as what to put on the box. I would always inclue the ressie#. Don't see what the security issue would be?
We put the resort name and address then the name the ressie was under, the ressie#, and check in date. We wrote it on all sides of the box. No need to call the resort ahead of time. They have a room where they keep all the deliveries so you have to ask for it when you check in. They brought it to our room when we were in there.
 
I called to confirm that the package was there. I had the tracking receipt, but I needed to hear that it was there. When I arrived I was told that the package was not there, and I explained that I had called to confirm, and that I had printed up the signature. It was found after an hour or so, all was well.
 

I'll check out the UPS website. I never thought about the fact they don't deliver on the weekends - that definitely needs to figured in. We arrive on a Saturday so maybe I'll ship it on a Monday or Tuesday to make sure its there on Friday. I'll call WL and see about the ressie #. Thanks again.
 
I JUST bought some glow bracelets online and had them shipped to POFQ. (We are checking in on Sunday! :cool1: ) I was planning to buy some more for halloween, but now that I'm packing I can't find the partially used tube that we were going to take with us. No big deal.
If I find them before we leave, I'll take them and I've just ordered the ones for Halloween and had them delivered to me at WDW.
I'm a little nervous about this shipping thing. Never done it before. lol.
