DH, DD and I have visited WDW every year since 1998 in the off season. (September, November and January.) We stopped going in September because I couldn't stand the heat any longer. (We're from TX, and I try to ESCAPE the heat, LOL!)

Anyway, we visited Six Flags Hurricane Harbor today and had a blast. We'd wanted to visit Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach but feared it'd be too cold in November and January.

I asked DH if he'd ever consider going to TL and BB in June, but he doesn't know if it'd be worth it as 'it'd be just as crowded as the parks, and it's probably not much different than Hurricane Harbor.' Don't get me wrong. We're ultimate WDW and DCL fanatics and sometimes do two Disney vacations per year, but we prefer WDW in the off-season. I've suggested maybe we can rent a condo for a week in Tampa and DRIVE to the water parks for two days, but he's balking.

My questions..

Is fastpass available on any water rides? Are Disney characters anywhere? Are the parks THAT much better than other water parks?

Thanks for any info you can give us! :earsgirl:

The Disney waterparks are well themed, but there aren't Disney characters there. They are both very nice, with wave pools, lazy river rides, and many water slides. You never know whether you can swim anywhere in Florida ahead of time, it could be in the 80's or the 50's.

No fast pass available. We were lucky to go there when it was raining lightly and that kept the crowds low. We LOVED TL. I can't really compare it to other water parks like one at 6 flags because I haven't been to any others except a smallish one not far from us. We had a blast here. Crushin Gusher is great!

Ok, I just looked at the website for Hurricane Harbor, there is a LOT more to do there then at TL. If you can get to something like that, it isn't worth an extra trip to Disney to go to TL.

Thanks!

I guess I was hoping for another reason to go to WDW. :rotfl:

Oh well! Maybe I'll sneak the swimsuits in the luggage when we visit in January.

Thanks again! :earsgirl:

We're making a trip down in August just to go to the water parks. We also usually go off-season (that's changed recently as DS is too old to miss school) It has to be really warm for me to be comforatble at the WP, I get cold very easy - April wasn't warm enough to enjoy the WPs, so off we go in Aug....

I do think it's worth it. We are right near a Six Flags & have passes there too. BB beats the pants off a Six Flags WP. One trip, we did BB every single day in the afternoon.(Haven't done TL yet, that's one of the reasons for August trip) Yes, there will be some lines - tackle the WP the same as you tackle the major Parks - go early, ride the biggies, then lounge in the lazy rivers. The WP also seem to clear out later in the afternoon, we took advantage of that.
