We are planning a trip to Disney and booked a preferred room. We want something very close to the food court and bus stops but not directly in front of a pool since we are light sleepers what buildings/sections would you suggest? Also which room are cleaned first in the morning the top floors or the bottom floors?

To stay away from the pools and get closest to the bus stop (and main building) I would request building 10.

As for room cleaning, if you call mousekeeping when you get to your room, you can schedule the time of day when you room will be cleaned. We do rope-drop and an early afternoon rest. Over the last three trips we requested early morning cleaning and our room has always been ready by the time we got back for naps.

What section is building 10 in?

We stayed in the 60's building if I remember right in a preferred room. We were not facing the pool and so it was nice and quiet but still close to the main building with the food court and bus stop. We stayed preferred because I had just had the 2nd surgery to correct a broken leg and did not want to have to walk extremely far to the main building,

Hi - the preferred rooms are in the 50's, 60's and 70's sections. The first time we stayed at Pop we requested/paid for the preferred room. Our room ended up being in one of the 70's buildings which is located to the left of Classic Hall. The location was great. Our second time to stay there we were in Room 5443, located in one of the 60's buildings off to the left of the pool. If you are looking at the resort map the room was located in the area where "Mowgli" is. Here's a link to the resort map. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/pop.htm

Though in essence we were closer to the main pool our room was on the other side of the building and it was very nice. But to answer your question my suggestion would be the 70's section to be safe because the 60's section can go either way and the 50's section has it's own theme pool so you would almost be certain to get a room near it IMO. Good luck! We Love Pop!:thumbsup2

I do believe building 10 is in the 70's section.

I like this section as well. But have found just as quiet rooms in the 60's.

As for the rooms, the mousekeeping start on the ground floor early...we usually start hearing them about 8am.
We always put the private sign on the door at night so they don't disturb us. I have tried the "calling" to schedule what time to clean the room (if we choose to do this) and it never fails....they knock early, before we are gone.

So with the sign up it is never an issue.

Good luck and have a wonderful time!!

I haven't paid for a pefered room at pop. But if lakeside 60's or 50's were more I would pay. I love that area. Both times we have gotten that request and we were in the 60's. Once building 5 and the other building 4. These are very close to the foodcourt.

I always ask for a room in the 70's section facing the lake. I find it to be close to the food court area and since the 70's doesn't have a pool, very quiet. Last time, our room was actually closer to the food court than some of the 60's preferred (we were at the end of the building closest to the pop jets).

Also, request a higher floor. Because of the walkways, first floor rooms will invariably have people walking past them early in am and at night, just getting to other buildings.

We just booked a preferred room for 5 nights the second week end of December. Last weekend we stayed at All Star Sports and had a preferred room right next to the main building and it was so worth paying the extra to be closer to the front especially with a pregnant wife and an infant baby lol. When we go back in December we will have to infant babies so the closer the better for us lol.

To be honest I'd just request the 80's building closest to Classic Hall (the bulding with rooms 9101-9472). It is an easy walk to the hall and buses (via the front of the building, not the back) and it is far away from the busy 70's pool. It also saves you a little cash because it is a standard room.

Good idea too, but just make sure and request one NOT facing the 80's computer pool, I find all rooms facing the pools have a potential for noise....unless it is freezing outside....

And, thinking about the mousekeepers, we were on the fourth floor and our mousekeeper came rather early most days, so I think they may not have any "set" pattern as to which floor they start with, especially since some floors could have more (or less) occupancy.
