My husband and I just spent the weekend at Vero Beach and loved the resort. We can't wait to take the kids there. We are considering buying some points there. Does anyone know what price Disney is selling Vero points for? We had a flyer in our room offering a $5 credit per point with only some use years available. I looked at the listings for TSS and they have many for Vero. What are the pros and cons of both buying through Disney or as a resale? Has anyone who owns at Vero had trouble booking at 11 months out? If so, when were you trying to vacation? Has anyone been able to book 5 people in a 1 bedroom at Vero? I know you can sometimes do this in the other resorts. We would most likely plan to visit over MLK weekend, President's week, April school vacation week, Memorial Day weekend, Columbus Day weekend or take other long weekends throughout the year; not really planning to go in the summer. We would use these points mainly for stays at Vero and consider ourselves lucky if we were able to book any of the other resorts. What experiences does anyone have with using Vero points to stay elsewhere? - especially Hilton Head. Thanks for any information/answers you can provide!

We purchased a VB contract about a year and a half ago for the sole purpose to reserve a BC on an every 2-3 year basis. I don't know what price Disney is asking currently hopefully someone else will chime in. When we were deciding to purchase it was a large difference between Disney's price and resale. Therefore it was an easy decision for us to go resale, since we were not in a hurry and had the money in hand. We paid about $65 pp for a 150 point contract that was neither stripped or loaded. We found the resale process to go very smoothly (a different company then TTS). If you are not in a hurry I would recommend going resale for VB.

As you are aware (but others may not), the Maintenance fees are much higher and will make up any savings you get from the initial purchase, if not a bit more. It sounds like you have the right mindset about purchasing at VB. Only buy VB if you want to stay at VB, especially some of those holiday weeks (or for a BC!!:lovestruc ) VB is a great resort!

There are lots of DVC villas at WDW, so switching at 7 months to a WDW DVC shouldn't be a problem for most times as long as you don't mind which resort you will stay.

I agree with the other person that resale is the way to go. I purchased resale at about a 30% discount from what Disney would sell it at. In addition, you should purchase the resort that has the cheapest annual assessment as it is not difficult to get a reservation at Vero Beach in the 7 month window. My home resort is Boardwalk and I have booked at Vero Beach during peak seasons such as spring break and between Chrsitmas and New Years and have never had a problem.

I wonder if over time AKV,HHI, GCV, HI, and the possible CRV won't also start to have very high MF's? Vero has this rep currently, not so sure it will always be so.;)

Could be quite true. I guess we will soon find out how that all plays out with DVC's in different economic situations. Right now that $5 in MF really stings, the only thing that will take that sting away is our trip to a BC in April

I know in the past if you owned some where else trying to get into VB or HH has been very difficult a 7 months during prime time. I would imagine that you would have more success if you owned there and called near the 11 month time frame. And as someone else said you have the benefit of using your points at other DVC resorts. Buy resale for the up front cost savings but know that your maintance fees will be higher than most other DVC resorts. Beach Front :).
