I'm just wondering how this is handled with checkin and charging priviledges. The other couple we are travelling with will arrive several hours before us and I'm sure they will want to unload their luggage etc., but we are the DVC owners. Does anyone know if they would be able to checkin without us being there?? As far as the charging goes, I'm betting that only one credit card can be used to charge to the room so that may not work out. Does anyone have any experience with this?? Thanks!!

I want to know this as well. We are staying in a 2 bed with friends in Feb next year. We arrive on the 8th and will stay in a studio until they arrive on the 12th. However we will be able to check into the 2 bed on the 12th way before they arrive. It is our DVC membership but I want to know if they will still have to check in when they get there or will we check in for them and have their keys with us. If so then how do we get their park tickets put onto their room keys as they will have their tickets with them.

We did ask MS about the charging issue and apparently this can be done but it is tricky and it depends on the experience level of the CM.

We were also wondering if we would be able to book them a ME as we are travelling on seperate flights coming in and going out so would need the ME at different times.

If their names are on the reservation, they will be able to check in without you. If you are getting one of the Dining Plans, it will have to be paid in full at check in. They may have to wait for you to arrive if you are each paying for your own plan.

That is correct. Only one card may be tied to the room for charging. However, each key has its own ID and each charge will list the key that made the charge. It is possible for you all to charge and settle up the day before you leave if you choose to do so. (Don't wait until check out - the charge to the card will already have been made. Also, once the charges total $1500, a charge will be made to the card). It may just be easier for only one family to have charging privileges - the other can pay as they go with cash, travelers checks or a credit card. You may specify which cards have charging privileges. For example, many families do not allow charging on their children's cards. Up to you.

And if your guests check in before you AND the room is available, make sure they know they will be in the second bedroom and not the one with the king sized bed. ;)

You can get their room keys and they can later have the ticket media added at the concierge desk I believe.
You just need to provide MS with all the flight info for each person and they will set up ME. We even had people coming in different days and it was no problem.

They can check in without a CC and you can add your CC later if you want. The first party that checks in can get the keys for the others or leave it for when the second party arrives, your choice.

With everyones names on the ressie, you could all check in separately. You can only put 1 CC on the room at checkin, But they can separate all charges on the room keys and each could pay individually at checkout. This was each person could use their own card. Also, if using DVC, you can all pay separately at checkin. We had checked in early in the morning(we were already there just upgrading to a 2bdr from a studio) and only paid our share of the DDP. When our friends arrived we weren't there but they had no problems at checkin, they just paid there portion of the DDP and got their room keys. It was real simple.

We shared a 2BR another family; They arrived first and there was no problem with them checking in as long as they are on the reservation.

This is what worked great for us:

We discussed in advance that only one credit card could be used for room charges but they could be broken out by individual charging. We then agreed we would get a printout the day before check out and each pay our portion.

As it turned out 99% of the charges were ours;) so they pay us cash for theirs and we let it charge through to our card we gave at check in.

All worked out great!

We'll be sharing a 2br at BCV with my dsis & her family. I was wondering if dh and I could go early in the day to check in while they go to MK, or if they'd have to be present as well. We're getting the DDP, so was thinking they'd have to be there to pay their portion of it. But it sounds as if a pp was able to pay just their portion of the ddp on check in. Any other experiences with this?

when we were transferring from WLV to SSR I went over by myself tocheck us in before the others had even woken up at WLV. I had to pay for all the dining at check in so that the keys could be activiated. The first person to check in must pay for all the dining at that point.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: my family knows I am not shy. I would have no problem moving htem :thumbsup2
