Ryan Seacrest's Wheel Of Fortune debut

Vanna hasn't 'turned' letters for years since they switched to TV touch screens. Was surprised she didn't retire with Pat and then either not have anyone do that job (since she really serves no other purpose) or bring in a different person. Not particularly a fan of Seacrest, he seems to already have several other jobs and tries too hard to act like he is the star of the show in other things (such as American Idol). Game show hosts are best when they blend into the background and let the contestants be the stars. Some Wheel of Fortune contestants make silly errors like calling a letter that is already being used or choose a letter that obviously doesn't fit, but perhaps some get nervous on the set with all of the TV cameras/lights/audience around. Too early to tell how Ryan will do since is only his first week on the show. Was a bit surprised they made no mention of Pat Sajak. Will be interesting to see how this works out for him.

No offense to Vanna but when it really comes down to it, her even being there since they went to touch screens (Late 90s? Early 2000s?) serves no real purpose since the letters could have easily revealed themselves automatically at that point (and actually do when the puzzle is solved). They only made it so she touched them just so they could keep her around. I understand she's a big part of the 'culture' of the show but just sayin'. :upsidedow

Pat Sajak isn't fully retired yet. He still has one season to go on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. That's set to start airing sometime in Oct.

So, Vanna acts as a bridge between Pat's show :teleport: and Ryan's show with the normal guests.

I think she has one year left on her contract? So, we will see what the producers do with her spot after this.

I have never figured out why they gave Ryan Seacrest the Wheel Of Fortune job to replace Pat Sajak? My guess is because they wanted to go with a younger host and they thought Ryan Seacrest would fit the bill. But who they should've gotten as I mentioned before to replace Pat Sajak as host would've been Jason Bateman because if you watch Zootopia and hear Nick Wilde speak Jason sounds identical to Pat Sajak. But I think give it a few years and they will replace Ryan Seacrest on Wheel Of Fortune like Family Feud replaced Louie Anderson and Cedric The Entertainer with Terry Crews on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Do you remember when CBS had a 1989 daytime version of Wheel Of Fortune that was hosted by a former NFL player? That version got unappealing ratings because of the NFL player hosting which is why that version was short-lived and I think this same thing will happen to Ryan Seacrest on Wheel Of Fortune

We watch Wheel of Fortune every night while eating dinner (we have a TV in the kitchen) and Ryan Seacrest has noticeably gotten more comfortable as host, but I do think him being host will be short lived. I can’t explain it, but this show just doesn’t seem like it fits him. When you watch Jeopardy, you can see how Ken Jennings is a perfect host, and I don’t get that feeling with Ryan Seacrest. Don’t get me wrong…. I like Ryan Seacrest, and it will be interesting to see how long he will be host.

I love Ryan Seacrest hosting Wheel, and feel that he is doing a wonderful job and is a perfect fit. Love how he interacts with the contestants and he and Vanna are great together too. I hope he keeps the job for many years.
Same here.

Ryan seems to try too hard and gets overly excited when the contestants do well and it looks phony/contrived to me. When they go to the first commercial break he seems to walk over to talk & interact with the contestants for the first time. Couldn't he just as easily met the contestants backstage before the show went on air? Strikes me as an on-air persona he is trying to create and not sure it is genuine.

What other venues have you watched Ryan

I agree about Drew, he seems to make fun of the contestants and often is laughing AT them when they make some obvious mistake playing a game. I like the show, but would prefer someone else to be the host.

Ryan also hosts American Idol and seems to act in a similar way. He was also on some morning talk show that I don't watch very often. He also hosts one of the New Year's Ever shows.
