Ryan Seacrest

First time I can recall Maggie being on camera was when Pat was away with that medical issue. Was not at all impressed. Seems they could have found someone who wasn't an already established person to fill the host role once Pat retires. I enjoy watching the show and really could care less who the host is or who might be up there 'turning' the letters. Only recently has Vanna spoken on camera, generally she never talked during the show. I think with all game shows the host shouldn't be the main focus and many try too hard to be funny/amusing/clever/witty which detracts from the show.

When they started mentioning potential replacements the only one I rolled my eyes about and didn’t want was Seacrest. I have said it before on here - I’m just not a fan. He irritates me and for no good reason. Just one of those things.

The one name thrown out there I’d like to see as a guest host was Mario Lopez. He could go either way - incredibly good or horrifically bad.

Ryan probably is the best fit, but when you can’t stand the guy and you really enjoyed Sajak, it is a bummer.

Not that I LOVE Seacrest, but when the word came out they were looking for a replacement for Pat, my first thought was "Please don't let it be Mario Lopez". Loved him as Slater, obvs, but since then - he annoys me.

Seacrest really is the best choice, for now. Squeaky clean, polished, established, familiar. Doesn't have to be a forever, but for a for-now.

I do remember in the old days the contestants went shopping for vastly overpriced merchandise.

Not going to happen as long as it gets good ratings. Jeopardy and WOF are the top two most-watched shows in syndication. WOF has many popular international versions as well.

I don't really love or hate Seacrest, but I do think that they should have gone for a younger, lesser known talent. If you want someone to stay on for as long as Pat did, you've got to start younger. Yes, I realize it's weird that Ryan Seacrest is no longer young!

I love Wheel of Fortune and watch almost every day. I think Seacrest is a good choice for the host. I've always really liked him.

Totally agree about Mario Lopez. Not a fan AT ALL. Liked him as Slater, so I guess he can act ok, but as a personality...yuck. He seems insanely full of himself and just gives off such a fake and creepy vibe.

I think Seacrest is a good choice. Jessie Palmer would have been a good choice too.

It's a sweet deal for Ryan. He'll be too old at some point to continue doing what he does now, but this??? He can do this for 30 years if he wants to. Also, it doesn't eat up a lot of time. I think I heard they do a season's worth of shows over a two month period.

He'll be fine on Wheel.

I was a bit surprised, as I thought he left Kelly & Ryan because his schedule was too full, but I like him well enough.

I'm an occasional viewer of the show, and plan to still watch about the same amount.

As for Vanna, I would have thought she and Pat would retire at the same time.

I'm neutral to Seacrest and Lopez. They always do vapid host gigs. If TV was a salad bar, those two are always present, like a couple of cucumbers.

Seacrest is a name that's already saturated TV, but Satan hasn't disclosed the terms of his pact with Ryan, so Satan/Seacrest could be in this for the long haul. The Wheel was the next inevitable step.

They are kind of a set, aren't they? One without the other just seems weird. They should get a female announcer and ditch the letter-turner.

We watch Wheel and Jeopardy almost nightly. Reminds me of when I took my Mom to Disneyworld several years ago, we HAD to be back in our room at Port Orleans so she could watch them. I’m not THAT fanatical about them, but enjoy them when we are home. I like Ryan so I’m happy with him being the new host. And I hope Vanna stays. Not a fan of Maggie Sajack.

Vanna can go as far as I am concerned unfortunately. She's very dry and seems uncomfortable all the time. HOWEVER - UGH - She's treated like a show piece that just needs to look pretty and her role should have been modernized and been made to be more respectful years ago.
