Ryan O'Neal may be right; He sounds like a jerk!

I have read a couple of different 'quotes' from him after Farrah passed away and IMHO, he is a most disgusting human being.

After Farrah's funeral the day after he was seen at the beach with another woman. He didn't even let his older son Griffin (I think) come to the funeral he had to wait outside. I think everything he did was for publicity and I'm glad Farrah didn't leave him anything.

I watched a bit of Larry King last night. He had Griffin on and it was a full hour of Ryan O'Neal bashing. Griffin was saying some pretty inflammatory things about his father but somehow they rang true. Seems they are all addicts - O'Neal and his children, Griffin says he and his sister are 'struggling to stay sober' and that his father is 'disgusting' and 'allowed Red's drug use to go on in the house.'

“They had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me," Ryan tells Vanity Fair. "I said to her, 'You have a drink on you? You have a car?' She said, 'Daddy, it's me -- Tatum!' I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it's my daughter. It's so sick."

He just sounds like an addict to me. He watched Farrah's casket being put in the hearse and like most addicts he wanted to numb himself out. Some woman hugged him and the first thing he asked is if she had a drink on her. That was his first & only thought, to get a drink.

From what I've heard, if you sit in an AA meeting, you'd hear similar stories. people sell their souls for a drink or for a hit of drugs. He didn'
t recognise tatum because at the moment all she represented was the possibility of getting a drunk & numbing himself.

The whole family is a bunch of disfunctional addicts. Griffin is stuck in blame. It's not like he's healthy either if he has to air their dirty laundry.

I hope Redmond gets the help he needs. Farrah tried for a long time to get pregnant. He was the joy of her life.

I believe that says it all.

How so? Ryan has his own money. Plus he's dying of leukemia himself. It's not like he's going to he around to spend it. Redmond is her son. Her only son. It was appropriate to leave it all to him. Especially if he's estranged from his father. Sounds like he's got no one now. The whole family is estranged from each other. :(

I found this comment interesting by O'Neill:

"I'd lose some of the savagery. I don't know how she got cancer; maybe some of it was me."

I wonder what that comment was suppose to mean--'maybe some of it was me'???? caused me to look up the some of the possible causes of her type of cancer, and it was fairly interesting reading---included causes are hpv, std's, trauma of the area I think this man is caring a ton of guilt and thier relationship was indeed a volitile one to say the least

I kind of felt sorry for him until he got to the part where he said that he didn't recognize his daughter, Tatum O'Neal at Farrah's funeral and tried to pick her up! :scared1:

I don't know and I might be going out on a limb her but do you think he was exaggerating and trying to inject some sick ill placed humor here? I mean really if you are that stupid to 1. try pick up someone at a funeral and 2. then repeat it would you really be able to even put two words together? PLEASE know I am not sticking up for him it is just beyond my comprehension that any even partially sane person would do this and then if they did, repeat it. I agree that he was wrong in saying, he hated his son. Who knows he was never one of my favorite people.

“It's so sick."

This quote sums it up best for me. I also give Griffin and Tatum credit for showing up at the funeral. They did the right thing, by their dad and Farah, even if their dad didn't deserve it. I also pray, regardless of Ryan's motives, that his being with Farah brought her some peace and comfort at the end. I really believe people get what they deserve in life -- it remains to be seen how his life will play out.

Maybe she didn't trust Ryan and that reflected in her choice to leave everything to her son. :confused3 None of us knows the reasons behind her decision. Only Farrah knew. :confused3

The whole family is quite sad. :sad2:

Farrah and Ryan were not married and if Ryan is as rich as he says he is why would anyone think she would leave him anything? I am betting that the problem is partially that she did not get along with the other kids and if Ryan died then it was possible that Tatum and Griffin would end up with what she left Ryan. Makes perfect sense to me especially in light of the fact that he has lukemia. I just wonder why she left nothing to her dad or sister. Although, you really did not see her sister much but rather Alaina Stewart was there for her.

How does one go about picking up ones own daughter? At a funeral no less. He may have been out of touch with her, but he certainly knows what she looks like....:scared1:
Well, I think she has had some work done...

I didn't read Tatum's book, but my sister did and I remember her telling of a passage where Tatum describes being punched in the face by her dad because she won (or was nominated for)the oscar for Paper Moon!! :sad2:

If any shred of that is true, and from what is coming out now, I kinda believe it, then he's a piece of crap.

If all of that is true about O'Neal, then he IS a first-class jerk. Unbelievable.

I remember a few years ago I watched the E! True Hollywood Story of the O'Neals and Ryan said that he didn't like Tatum's acting in Paper Moon.

That guy must be a HUGE jerk! She's his kid!!! :sad2: As parents, don't we all love our kids performances?
I loved the movie Paper Moon and IMHO Tatum was terrific!!

She stole the movie and he was jealous. She was so good, I couldn't keep my eyes off of her. Reading all this about trying to pick her up at the funeral...there is a special place in hell for him. Even if she wasn't his daughter. I'm glad he and Farrah never married and I just hope that Farrah believed he was genuine in her affection for her and never knew what a world class jerk he is.

Maybe. But, from what little I've heard about rich & wills, they think differenly than your "average" person. They think monetarily in their wills.

Ryan didn't need money left to him. He had access to her house or apartment. Anything of sentimental value, she could have already given to him & Alana. Like, to us mere mortals, a heirloom dinnerware set that is expensive to us may be included in a will. But, when you have millions like Farrah hopefully had, she might have just said to Alana, "Take the china set if you want it." Plus they could have just taken what they wanted right after her death.

As for her Dad & sister, probate can take up to a year. Her dad is elderly. He could die before he ever sees the money. I would hope that Farrah had already seen to his & her sister's financial needs in other ways.

Plus wills aren't just one line, "I leave everything to ..." They do have to be detailed. The press probably doesn't have the full details.
