Ryan O'Neal may be right; He sounds like a jerk!

How so? Ryan has his own money. Plus he's dying of leukemia himself. It's not like he's going to he around to spend it. Redmond is her son. Her only son. It was appropriate to leave it all to him. Especially if he's estranged from his father. Sounds like he's got no one now. The whole family is estranged from each other. :(

I woudn't stretch it to say that he is "dying". He is dependent upon Gleevec to live, but it is a very neat drug that pretty much eliminates the cancer within the body for over 3/4's of its users. (It would take a very high tech look at the blood to detect anything...more explanation is here: http://www.learner.org/courses/biology/units/cancer/experts/druker.html)

My marathon coach from Team in Training's sister is on gleevec as was a teammates sister-in-law and neither would label the leukemia patient as dying with that miracle drug.

And yes--Ryan is a creep.

Oops! Sorry, I misspoke. I keep forgetting that people here on the DIS might be sick or going though similar stuff. (In my view & wish for everyone here on the DIS, I like to think of everyone as healthy & strong. :cloud9: :grouphug: )

I didn't mean to write something I know nothing about, and mislead people who are using such drugs or anything, like they've been possibly mislead by others or didn't get the facts straight, and then lose hope.

No worries! I wouldn't have noticed at all except that they mentioned Gleevec in the article and I had learned so much about it during my training.

Looks like Vanity Fair got it right.

"Beautiful People, Ugly Choices"

This is a great synopsis of how he feels for his children. He really is a disgusting person.:sad1:

When asked if he was sorry he had children, he said, "A couple of them I would take back. I don't think I was supposed to be a father. Just look around at my work - they're either in jail or they should be. I'm not in touch with them now. And I've never been happier."

Farrah's sister died from cancer herself several years ago. It must be very difficult for Farrahs dad to have outlived both daughters.

“They had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me," Ryan tells Vanity Fair. "I said to her, 'You have a drink on you? You have a car?' She said, 'Daddy, it's me -- Tatum!' I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it's my daughter. It's so sick."

About being hit on by her dad, Tatum sighs and says: "That's our relationship in a nutshell. You make of it what you will." It had been a few years since we'd seen each other, and he was always a ladies' man, a bon vivant."

Tatum sounds like she has accepted what he is. Her life hasn't been easy.

I agree, and she was very talented at one time, its so sad....Ryan is definitely "out of his mind" to NOT recognize his OWN Daughter!!:sad2: He needs HELP....NOW!!!:guilty:
