Helen, younger in years and looks - the most organised member of the family
Ryan, 5 months old - a Disney fan in the making

This is going to be one our longer days of the holiday as we’ll be attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tonight. Ryan has a special costume which we’ll come to later…

First of all we have a bit of a lie-in and potter around in the room for a while, then a short stroll into Epcot via the International Gateway. First ride of the day was Journey into Imagination which proved a big hit with Ryan, especially the part with the different smells – his little nose was twitching like a rabbit :D Afterwards we spent some time in the post-ride area using the photo machines to send an e-postcard to the folks back home and then nipped into Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Another chance for Ryan to admire his parents wearing silly glasses! Incidentally we noticed they had changed the pre-show from the old True Colours number to something that features Kodak much more heavily. Bit of a shame, but that’s progress, I guess.

We’re starting to feel peckish now, and feel a jacket potato in the Land’s food court will hit the spot but are disappointed to find that we can’t take our stroller inside. Ryan is still too small to use the Disney highchairs, so this will have to wait for the next trip. Instead we head over to the Electric Umbrella where the queues are building up nicely. After about an hour or so (alright, maybe 15 minutes) we’re tucking into chicken strips and fries (Helen), and a beef and cheese baguette with coleslaw (me) – both very yummy.

Just time for one more trip on Mission Space – I’ll work out how this artificial gravity works if I have to ride it a hundred times :D Meet up with Helen in the non-riders area, walk back to the park exit and manage to time things just right for a Friendship boat heading back to the BW. Literally just time to freshen up and grab our Halloween things before heading out again – this time to the Polynesian where we have a PS at Kona Café. This place is a real gem and very reasonably priced (for Disney!). Caesar salad and grilled Mahi Mahi for me (plus a couple of beers!) whereas Helen had the Asian pasta. Everything was very tasty and service was excellent with Ryan getting loads of attention from our server.

Still plenty of time before the party is due to start so we take the opportunity to change Ryan into his party outfit – Tigger lives!. We then ride the monorail round to the Contemporary and stroll out to the small boat dock at the back. This is where I proposed to Helen just over three years ago, so it’s a special place for us and we try to visit each trip. It’s just about time for the party to begin so we head back across to the MK.

Boy, do they really go to town for Halloween. Pumpkins, smoke, and all manner of details are used to set the mood for the night, with loads of people making an effort to dress up in costume – we spotted an army of Spidermen, a posse of Woody’s, a couple straight out of the Matrix and even a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger for good measure. We watch a show in front of the castle and then grab a good spot for the parade and the headless horseman – very impressive! We then head off to get our family photo taken.

We watched the fireworks and took a ride on the steamboat, saw a couple more shows and collected our fair share of candy from the various Trick or Treat stalls around the park. We then settle down for an ice-cream from the parlour on Main Street to watch the world go by. Ryan was well and truly in the land of nod by now and we decided to call things a night, heading back the MK car park via monorail and then home to the BW by about 11.30pm.

Day 6, Where did all the people come from?

Great trip reports looking forward to the others.

What a wonderful little Tigger you & your wife have. He's gorgeous.
