We are renting an RV to be delivered...the rental person told me to add his name to the reservation so he could deliver it. Who do I call for this...I obviously don't want to pay for a 5th person, so how does this work (I am on a package)?
Anyone else do rental RVs that can explain this process? TIA!!!

As the majority of campers don't use a dining plan I suspect you vendor expects you don't either. Him being on your reservation means he can check you in prior to your arrival and deliver the unit to your assigned site without you being there.
I would let him know you have a dining package

Where does the OP mention having the dining plan? In fact the Dining plan is currently unavailable.

So the person just needs to add the person to their reservation (from my understanding doesn't charge extra for additional people at a camping site, unlike the hotels)

Where does the OP mention having the dining plan? In fact the Dining plan is currently unavailable.

Assumption was that if the OP's reservation was a package reservation (which in non-covid times might include dining), adding a name to the package reservation would trigger the need to pay for the complete package for the extra name.

As you point out, there are no dining plans being offered in these covid times (and I assume Disney will resume selling the dining plan at some point). It was a reasonable assumption (I thought of that reason, too, initially for the OP's reluctance) but the list of what normally is offered in regular business and what's not in these covid times is not widely considered common knowledge.

But since the OP mentioned a package and dining's not an option currently, it might be a room/ticket combo and every name on the package must have the same components for all the days on the reservation. Thus it's reasonable to assume he doesn't want to be forced to add the cost of tickets for the vendor's name to get on the reservation.

So FtW Mike made a reasonable assumption (dining/tickets?) because not everyone has every nuance memorized as to what's being offered and what's not in these covid times. Obviously it would not have been a problem if the reservation at the Fort was room only.

Finally for the OP, that's a good point you bring up and one that hasn't come up here since WDW reopened. You might try to call and ask somewhere at Disney (or try to get a written response to an email). In the non-covid times, a guest with a reservation could meet a trailer or golf cart vendor and ride in with the vendor in their vehicle when they drop out/set up.

But it does present a conundrum.

Well I guess this would fall in to the no visitors policy. But on the other hand if it was a Disney approved vendor, why would they not let them in to deliver the rental ?

I have experience with the vendors and can offer a little explanation,
First off only WDW preferred RV ( Meachams and Luxurious) vendors are allowed in the Fort before the guest arrives all other vendors are supposed to wait until the guest physically checks in before entering the Fort. The preferred vendors pay for this perk, they also abide by very high Disney standards when it comes to how they treat the guest. This way you are guaranteed to be treated just like Disney would treat you.
Second all the other companies have done many things in the past to gain access to the Fort before their guest arrives which includes what your vendor is asking you to do. With the heightened security now this is the only way they can gain access to the Fort before you arrive. Most of the guards would just allow the non preferred vendors to go through the gate and deliver the RV with only the guests name but not anymore. Like I said previously the guest has to be at the Fort before the non preferred vendor can go in .So the vendors are now asking the guests to add them to their reservation so when they get to the guard he/she has their name on the reservation and he/she will let them in. So yes you can do it but not only is it not right I personally would not want someones name I really don't know on my reservation that I would be responsible for the entire time I was there. Do people do it, yes so you will have to make that decision.
If you choose to arrive before your vendor you would just have to wait for them to set up your RV (usually about 20/30 minutes) as they should have coordinated with you on your arrival time and can wait in a Disney holding area about 10 minutes away. Hopefully this helps in whatever decision you make but most importantly have fun at the Fort there is no other place like it.
One last thing as mentioned by Bama-Ed if you have any add ons to your reservation such as the Dining plan( and I do know that it is not an option now) or advance tickets everyone on your reservation would have to be included in those plans.

Thank you all for this info! I didn’t know there were Disney approved vendors. As an annual to semi annual Disney visitor I do know that everyone in the room ressie has to have identical packages. That’s why, when he asked me to do this, my first thought was how that will cost me a 7 day park ticket. But having never stayed at the Fort, I wondered if it worked differently, or if Disney just allowed this due to RV rentals. I will be getting there before him anyway, so he'll just have to wait for me.

Thanks, penel3! Good luck to you.

For those reading, there are "Preferred Vendors" by Disney

As @Corgidad said above, they have a special arrangement with Disney to get you into your site and provide a higher level of service. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/campsites-at-fort-wilderness-resort/services-amenities/ [click READ MORE on the RV Rentals Section]

You can use a non-Preferred vendor but it takes a little more work and coordination as shown above in the link. The same is true with renting a golf cart (Disney rental versus off-site rental). Everybody has their own decision point for each.

The non-preferred vendors want to get on your reservation (room only best) because it's easiest for THEM. They show up when is good for them (you may not be coming in until later) so they can get in and set up when it's convenient for THEM. They can ask but if they are there are limits if they are non-preferred. The PREFERRED vendors can get in early and get gone before you arrive because you (and them) pay for that higher level of service. It's not a hard concept to understand. :confused3

penel3, if you can get to the Fort before the vendor on the day of arrival, it should work out for you. It will just require a little bit more coordination/communication to make sure you check in before he arrives to set up. And tell the Fort to let him in to set up your trailer (once you know what site number it is).

Good luck!

PS - IMO, that corgidad guy rocks!
