Does anyone have any information on RV parking at the DVC resort's?

I am inviting my parents and aunt and uncle to join us next summer and they will drive their RV's so that they can continue on touring Florida after they leave Orlando.

I will probably try to stay at OKW but may try WLV or SS.

Thanks for any info you can give!

Lori

Don't know about the rest but RV's are not supposed to be parked at OKW. I think they have arrangements with PO to park them there.

I have seen RVs in the BWV parking lots.

in the 2002-2003 members guide book, it states, under OKW resort info only

"Please note that RV's may be parked on property if the vehical is less than the width of the interior of the lines of one individual parking space, and or the vehical does not exceed 24 feet in lenght. For all other RV's, alternate arrangements can be made upon arrival at the resort"

They are not allowed at OKW.

They may not be allowed, but, we had a BIG one, took up 7 spaces, in Feb. And....it stayed there for 3 nights.

When we had guests coming to stay with us at OKW last year in their motor home, we called ahead and found out they could park it at PO Riverside. It worked out very easily. We just went over with them and took the bus from there.

Gail--They are not allowed but you got away with it. I stayed once at OKW and had one of those things parked outside our unit, it took up 4 spaces. I never complained but next time I see one I will.. the problem down there is that a lot of the employees do not know the rules or even give a damn. The last thing we need is people staying with someone at OKW and living out of one of those things if you get my drift. OKW and WDW has gone down far enough over the years we don't need it to be changed into a trailer park. Sorry, but I am tired of people that think the rules do not apply to them. The last visit to OKW I saw a woman with a dog right up on the tables that we eat off of it front of the docks. I should have said something about that also after all dogs are not allowed anywhere except the kennel. Again I said nothing next time I will. I was hit in the head with a flying object, a small football down there when I was swimming last. Yes I believe WDW is changing into one gaint trailer park but I try to make the most of it.

Was it a small dog or a large dog? There is a blind family who are DVC members who always stay at OKW in January. We have run into them several times, and they have two very well behaved German Shepherd guide dogs.

We also had a motor home parked in front of our unit one time when we had a GV at the end of Miller's Road. I called the desk and complained, and it was gone by that afternoon.

It was a Lhasa Apso hardly a guide dog. Even a guide dog does not belong up on the tables. Of course a guide dog would never be up on the tables. Good for you for complaining about the trailer or motor home whatever. I should have complained but when I go down there I try to avoid being my usual self and relax.

Thanks for the info everyone. I believe that both RV's are bigger than 24' so they won't be parking them at OKW. Also, they will be staying in rooms, not their RV's. That's just how they will be traveling.

I did call VWL today about something else and they said they do have parking for RV's there just in case anyone else needed to know.

Thanks again all!

No Pa, I did not get away with it, it was not mine, no way!!! It was someone other guest/member. I said we had one, I should have said, we had one parked outside the unit. Sorry for not being more clear. My idea of driving to WDW is to drive to the airport.

Basically the following applies to RV parking.

1. OKW, must be within the lines of a single parking space and no longer than 24 feet. RV's outside those limits can park at PO as stated.

2. BWV, can park in the parking lot at the far South edge of the property. This is adjacent to where the Taxi's park while waiting for a call. You get to this lot by making an immediate left turn after passing the guard shack.

3. BCV, can park in the regular lot but park at the far end, near the stream.

4. VWL, can park in the regular lot but park at the far end, farthest away from the lodge entrance.

5. HH, no RV's of any size. There just isn't room at all. There's just barely room for regular cars.

Don't know what policy will be for SSR. Also don't know about VB.

Just for clarification, for those those equating RV owners as trailer park people, just a reminder that the cheapest new RV you can find today is probably about $80,000 and the average is probably about $125,000 - $150,000 with the larger 'bus' type RV's in the $200,000 to $300,000 range. You'll also find that these types of owners are most respectful of others and very considerate when parking their rigs somewhere.

There are a few exceptions certainly, often for example those who purchase very old units in poor shape because they can't afford anything over $10,000 and these units can be a pretty poor eyesore. Often you'll find that this is the first RV they've ever had and don't know the common courtesies yet.

I just hope that DVC owners on this board don't start talking about RV owners the same way other DIS'ers, like on the debate board, like to talk trash about DVC owners. JMHO.

As per the fine print of my newly acquired Public Offering Statement for SSR;

"...mobile homes, recreational vehicles and the like may be parked on the Condominium Property if the vehicle is less than the width of the interior of the lines of one (1) individual parking space and does not exceed twenty-four (24) feet in length. If the vehicle is wider than the width of the interior lines of one (1) individual parking space or if the vehicle exceeds twenty-four (24) feet in length, than such vehicle may not be parked on the Condominium Property without prior permission of the Association or Management Company. No trucks or buses may be parked anywhere on Condominium Property, except for those of DVD or the Management Company, if any."

Wow, what a mouthful!
