RV Parking

Hi Folks

We are in the beginning stages of planning an RV trip (our first) cross country and
would like to spend some time seeing the Disneyland Parks and would like to know if its OK to park our RV at the Disneyland Hotel. We would like to stay there for 4 nights at the Grand Californian hotel and wanted to know if anyone has done this before.

Hi!

We drove a 40ft diesel RV to California from Toronto in 2012. We were staying at the GC. They had us pull up to the Grand and we took out our suitcases and food that we didn't want to spoil, and then had us park in the Disneyland Hotel, across the back end.

Our only issue was that we stupidly had the toad hooked up when we were leaving (as it had been fine to get in with it) and someone parked rather badly in the disabled parking and it took the 6" we needed for clearance. Unfortunately we couldn't get the car unhitched as we were on an angle and it was pretty bad.
We finally got out via the backstage, and they had to find boards to put over the road 'teeth'. It was kinda funny in retrospect as so many people came out waving their hands telling we couldn't go that way - until we pointed to our bicycled security guard who was leading us. It became one of those stories later that was funny. At the time: not so much!

So my advice to you: plan your exit strategy - there are funny curbs at weird angles.

Yeah...thy can accommodate oversize vehicles. You can literally pull into the front main gate of the Grand and just stay to the left as you enter the valet area to unload all of your luggage. Once you are ready they will park you in either the back of the DL Hotel lot or M&F oversize lot and give you a permit. I have checked in with large vehicles several times and each time they followed me in a golf cart to park and gave me a ride back to the Grand.

Thanks Terapin that's quite a story and advise. Thank you for responding. I am sure Ill have plenty of more questions as I really start getting deep into my plans.

My FIL is driving down to CA in his RV and meeting us at GCV for a few nights. We are hoping he will be able to park across the street while he stays in our room. Do you think this will be a problem? We are DVC members and get free parking pass for our room. Will he be able to use it?

Should be able to. You can add him to your reservation when he gets there and he'll have his own KTTW card
