My dad has finally bought a trailer for hid Dodge. Need the name of a good RV insurance company for him. Any help in this regard would be appreciated. Thanks!

We have a motor home so the insurance is different. but when we had a travel trailer we just added it to our car ins. He should try his ins company 1st. that was a looong time ago so not sure about costs. we have allstate for our cars but our mh is insured thru geico. Allstate tripled the cost for the mh so we changed. went from 1000$ a yr to 260$ for the same coverage.

I don't know if they are good or not. But I know that Progressive Insurance does RVs due to their commercials!! Good marketing I guess.

You might want to post this on the camping board here on the DIS. They are a very active and vocal group.

We used Progressive for our travel trailer. Rates were good, as well as customer service.

Ask his current insurance company. If it is a trailer, as opposed to a actual RV, it should be on the same policy.

We have GMAC. We looked into Progressive, Geigo and USAA. They were all about the same price, but GMAC gives us higher coverages for that same price, so we went with them.

Ours is insured with State Farm for physical coverage. The liability extends from what ever is towing the trailer.

We have our 5th wheel insured with American Modern Home. They have been great, no claims yet, but they give a discount if you are referred by RV America. Nor sure how to do that. We have our 5th wheel insured and it was cheaper than our regular American Family and they are covering it for 100 % of full replacment value for the 1st 5 years. That means that if something happens, and it's totaled out, we get a new rv after paying our deductable. No matter what the new one costs.:hippie: ( same model/same options)

I just added a policy with the company we use for our vehicles, and was able to get a very good rate since we have multiple policies with them.

He needs to ask his current company first.

Ours is insured with State Farm for physical coverage. The liability extends from what ever is towing the trailer.

Ours is also with State Farm. It's a separate policy from our auto policy and costs $98 for a year. I just happened to pay it this morning.
