The perpetrators are indeed animals. In fact, worse than animals. This is the second such incident with a hostage situation in Russia that ended badly. One wonders if it is a situation that was completely beyond control from the start or if they just handle these things badly. It is such a tragedy.

I have to agree with beattyfamily on what those attackers are. My heart goes out to all those innocent victims and their families. I can't imagine having to go through something like that.

I don't even know what to say...I am completely at a loss...it is uncomprehendable to me how anyone could bring this on innocent children and their loved ones. The inhumanity is staggering.

I was literally up all night until 5 this morning crying over this story. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw those children and their mothers, it's beyond heartbreaking.

I make blankets and donate them to children's hospitals, I think I will be making some and donating them in honor of these children. I too wish there was something I could do for the families. If anyone hears of anything please post a link here?

I just can't believe this whole thing happened the way that it did.

While I agree the hostage takers are animals the Russian government needs to try a different approach than the current one which seems to be resulting in larger death tolls than it should. They always seem to go in guns blazing and I am sure more than a few deaths are caused by the russians themselves and not all are from the Chechen rebels. No it doesn't mae it any better but man they need to try something different to get the hostages out.

Truly the saddest thing I've seen since 9/11. To viciously terrorize and murder children. I actually have that same "pit" in my stomach as I did following the 9/11 attacks and it won't go away. Just horrible. We cannot forget how incredibly bold, monstrous, inhuman and evil terrorists can be. What a sad time!!!

I am absolutely sickened by this story. Outraged, Horrified...I can barely look at the pictures on the news. It's just unthinkable and it makes me absolutely FURIOUS. Those poor, poor babies and their poor mothers and fathers. Lord, sometimes I just don't understand people's hatred and just moral bankruptedness.

What kind of beings would do this to children? I can't comprehend what type of beings they must be? They are not human. And they aren't even animals. Do they have mothers? If so, how were they raised? They must have been raised by similarly disgusting, evil things. It makes me sick to my stomach! And I can't print on the DIS what should be done to the monsters.

While the Russian authorities do seem to have problems over there, I hope its not a sign of more aggressive terrorists. People who escaped said they were vicious from the beginning. People were taking their clothes off because it was so hot in the auditorium where most were being held and the terrorists were "suggesting" that the hostages drink their own urine to quench their thirst. The terrorists refused to allow food and water to be brought in. Doesn't sound like an overzealous police force is to blame. Very sad.....
