Russia WS Rumor is back

The Russia Epcot WS pavillon is allegedly back in play.

I'm all for a new nation WS pavillon. I would prefer Brazil or India, but Russia would certainly be interesting.

Heck, I would take anything there at this point.

I would absolutely be thrilled to see Russia as the newest country to invade the WS. It's been too long since we've had a new country!!

A Russia pavillion could be breathtakingly beautiful. A miniature Hermitage, for instance. Not sure what ride they would put in a Russia pavillion other than another boat ride - with the song of the Volga Boatmen playing of course - but I like boat rides so I wouldn't complain. Certainly not E-ticket, though.

It would be the best! Troika rides, mushroom hunting, perhaps a simulated tomb of lenin. Seriously though, Russia is an AMAZING country, really beautiful. I think it would be an much needed eastern addition.

Eggs, think Eggs, Faberge Eggs! If a Russian pavilion is ever built they'll certainly have to have the display!

As for a possible ride what about something to do with the space program? After all Russian was the first country to put a satellite in orbit and to put a man in space. They've also launched more manned missions than anyone else and also hold the record for longest time in space! Another possibility for a ride (or movie) could be something to do with the Trans-Siberia railway.

Russia certainly presents many more possibilities than a lot of the country's that have been discussed as possible additions to WS and they also have centuries of history!

Yikes... having been in the real Lenin's tomb, I really hope they don't replicate it in WS! It's creepy.

That said, I love Russia, and I love WS and am dying for them to add another pavilion.

I was thinking about a Russia addition to Epcot earlier this week. A few years ago there was a Disney theme park design exhibit at the National Building Museum that included plans for a USSR pavilion. The narrative for the exhibit said that Disney was always interested in sucha pavilion, but Cold War political realities made it impossible. Now that the USSR has collapsed and Russia is neither friend nor foe, the political hurdles have fallen. Russia is also awash in the cash necessary to sponsor such a pavilion.

I think that it would be a wonderful addition to Epcot!

Sounds neat if it happens. Any new country added to the showcase would be a good thing. But personally I've always wanted a Greece pavilion.

No one is saying where it might end up. Where would they put it? All of the pictures I've seen show it back behind a few exhibits.

Sounds like its very preliminary, and we all know how that goes with Disney. Curious, where would the new pavillion go? In place of a current member? I dont think theres really any free space to put a new country. The only area of space I can think of, although its not very big, is the area between France and Morocco where the Oklahoma set up was at this years F&W...

There is actually tremendous space around the World Showcase lagoon for more pavilions.
If seen from the air, there is much free space in WS with plenty of access from the areas between the current "lands."
